“If you’re going to invest in an internet stock, you must be a long-term investor”, defende Jeff
no ramo do comércio eletrónico

“If you’re going to invest in an internet stock, you must be a long-term investor”, said Jeff
Bezos, Amazon founder, one of the main companies focused on the e-commerce.
Nowadays, the number of customers and companies who use internet to do some shopping
corresponds to a big percentage of the population, with tendency to increase as times passes by.
This study is focused on the apparels branch in Portugal, particularly in the perception and
motivations of those who buy when they’re exposed to captivating campaigns and marketing
strategies, and it will try to reply to the question: “Which criteria are behind the increase of
online apparel shopping?”, since this sector is the one that presents the greatest growth in the
field of e-commerce.
The selected methodology for this investigation has both qualitative and quantitative approaches, namely with an interview no DHL E-commerce Director, Mr. Alberto Lançós, followed by an online survey applied to the portuguese population regarding their experience with
online apparel shopping. It was possible to outline the Portuguese consumer profile (its attitudes
and opinions, consumption habits, what are they looking for), to define the purchasing processes
as well as the strategies that are used by certain brands to meet the expectations of the population, and also to understand and analyze how B2C (Business to Customer) works in apparel’s
area in Portugal.
