As associações de doentes são organizações importantes no atual contexto social,
contribuindo para o bem-estar dos doentes e para a defesa dos seus interesses.
Organizam-se em rede estabelecendo relações com outras associações, com quem
interagem e por vezes competem na busca de financiamento. Da sua estratégia e eficácia
de comunicação depende a sua capacidade de influência. O presente estudo pretende
relacionar o grau de profissionalização das associações de doentes com a estratégia de
comunicação e com a sua capacidade de intervenção.

Patient organizations are important organizations in the current social context, contributing
to the well-being of patients and to the defense of their interests.
They are organized in a network establishing relationships with other associations, with
whom they interact and sometimes compete in the search of financing. Their ability to
influence depends on the communication strategy and effectiveness. The present study
relates the degree of professionalization of patient associations to the communication
strategy and its intervention ability.
