No avanço da Internet para a uma Web 3.0, as tecnologias ligadas à Web Semântica ganham terreno em
diversas aplicações, dando lugar a um novo paradigma online: o da personalização. Olhando para a
atividade jornalística, esta nova forma da Internet merece maior atenção, dada a possível influência
sobre o consumo de notícias na rede. A presente dissertação pretende fazer uma ponte entre os estudos
da Engenharia Informática focados na Web Semântica e os do Jornalismo, de forma a perceber como é
que as redações com presença online em Portugal estão a tirar proveito destas tecnologias ou, pelo
menos, como poderiam fazê-lo. A investigação conta com o conhecimento de especialistas
familiarizados com a Web Semântica no campo académico, bem como de vários quadros de jornais
online portugueses, com ou sem conhecimento desta que é tida como “uma extensão” da Web como a
concebemos hoje.

In the advance of the Internet to a Web 3.0, the technologies connected to the Semantic Web gain ground
in several applications, rising to a new online paradigm: customization. Regarding the journalistic
activity, this new form of the Internet deserves more attention, given the possible influence on the online
news consumption. This dissertation will bridge the studies of Computer Engineering focused on
Semantic Web and Journalism, in order to understand how the newspapers with online presence in
Portugal are taking advantage of these technologies or, at least, how they could do so. This research
counts on the knowledge of experts familiar with Semantic Web from the academic field, as well as
several Portuguese online newspapers’ personnel, with or without knowledge of what is considered as
an "extension" of the Web as we conceive it today.
