O presente trabalho de investigação pretende apresentar-se como mais um contributo para a reflexão em torno da temática da arte pública, destacando a relevância do papel dos públicos para o sucesso das intervenções deste tipo. De igual modo, foca algumas questões adjacentes a esta problemática, tais como o conceito de «arte urbana», «espaço público» e «lugar».
Sendo a arte urbana uma vertente da arte pública muito presente no panorama citadino, verificou-se pertinente estudar um caso concreto de um «acontecimento» (uma iniciativa cultural) nacional onde, logo à partida, se denotasse a intenção de envolver uma determinada comunidade no processo.
Assim, optámos por analisar o evento «MURO | Festival De Arte Urbana Lx_2016», com o intuito de compreender o impacto que este produziu junto dos moradores do Bairro Padre Cruz (o epicentro do festival), em Carnide. Por outro lado, o objectivo desta dissertação passa por abordar o discurso das entidades oficiais promotoras do evento, confrontando-o posteriormente com o de alguns moradores do bairro.
Através de um conjunto de entrevistas semiestruturadas esclarecemos algumas questões relacionadas com a origem do festival e os processos inerentes à sua execução. Porém, o principal foco desta pesquisa é o de compreender qual foi o papel da comunidade no evento, bem como as alterações que este eventualmente provocou no quotidiano do Bairro Padre Cruz.

This research paper is intended as an added contribution to the ongoing debate on the theme of «public art», highlighting the importance of publics for the success of such art interventions. At the same time, it focuses on some of matters related to this issue, such as «street art», «public-space» and «site».
Considering that street art is a type of public art highly present in the urban landscape, we considered that it was important to analyse a concrete national case of an «happening» (a cultural initiative) that showed the intention to engage a given community in its process, right from the start.
Consequently and with the intention to understand the impact that it had in Bairro Padre Cruz’s residents (i.e. the epicentre of the festival), in Carnide, we chose the street art festival «MURO | Festival De Arte Urbana Lx_2016». In addition, this research paper aims at inquiring some of the official entities carrying out the event, in order to compare their views with the feedback from some of Bairro's residents.
Through a set of semi-structured interviews, we were able to understand the genesis of the festival and the different processes leading to its implementation. However, the main focus of this research is to understand the community‘s role in this event as well as its effects on Bairro Padre Cruz.
