O surgimento do avião como elemento influente na visão dos arquitetos do movimento moderno do século XX transformou a forma de conhecer e interpretar a paisagem, refletindo-se numa metodologia distinta de planeamento e interação com o território. No seculo XXI, esta relevância da aeronave perpetua-se com a emergência do veículo aéreo remotamente pilotado (VARP) – vulgarmente designadas como “drones” – no espaço aéreo da Cidade. A democratização desta tecnologia transforma o espaço aéreo urbano, promovendo uma mudança de paradigma da realidade contemporânea e influenciando aspetos como a privacidade, a segurança, o planeamento urbano e os regulamentos de utilização do espaço aéreo.
No âmbito profissional de utilização do VARP, a relevância deste no processo de representação e produção de Arquitectura torna-se um dos seus pontos de maior influência, possibilitando novas formas operativas de ação do arquiteto e ampliando a sua autonomia, capacidade técnica e consciência sobre os cenários onde intervém
Com a premissa de enquadrar a relevância destes veículos no processo de representação e produção de arquitetura, este trabalho procura expor as principais valências dos drones na Arquitetura, através de uma investigação sobre as suas especificações e aplicações em diferentes áreas e da comparação desta tecnologia com outras tecnologias convencionais.
A realização de um caso de estudo de utilização de um VARP e de um software de fotogrametria digital aérea, tornou ainda possível uma restituição tridimensional da zona de estudo da vertente prática de Projecto Final de Arquitetura.

The emergence of the airplane as an influential element in the view of the architects of the twentieth century’s modern movement, has transformed the way of knowing and interpreting the landscape, reflecting in a distinct methodology of planning and interacting with the territory. In the 21st Century, this relevance of the aircraft is perpetuated with the emergence of the Remotely-Piloted Airship Vehicle (RPAV) - commonly designated as “drones” - in the airspace of the city. The democratization of this technology transforms the urban airspace, promoting a paradigm shift from contemporary reality and influencing aspects such as privacy, security, urban planning and regulations of airspace utilization.
On the professional scope, the relevance of the RPAV in the process of representing and producing Architecture becomes one of its most influential points. Enabling new operative forms of action by the architect and expanding his autonomy, technical capacity and awareness of the scenarios where he intervenes.
With the premise of framing the relevance of these vehicles in the process of representation and production of architecture, this work seeks to expose the main valences of drones in architecture, by investigating their specifications and applications in different areas and comparing this technology with other conventional technologies.
The realization of a study in the use of a RPAV and an aerial digital photogrammetry software made possible a three-dimensional restoration of the survey area on the practical aspect of Architecture Final Project.
