É por isso necessário que o museu tenha ao seu dispor métodos que salvaguardem as manifestações imateriais, para que sejam posteriormente transmitidas, assegurando a sua continuidade no tempo.

Throughout its history, museums have always been places of heritage storage. With the evolution of their concept, they stopped limiting their action to the material, and with the help of several international instruments, they incorporated in their mission the immaterial. Thus, the Intangible Cultural Heritage has become essential when addressing material goods, as it attributes value to the object and appeals to the collective memory and identity of communities, attributing to the institution a social duty. It is therefore necessary that the museum has at its disposal methods that safeguard immaterial manifestations, so that they are later transmitted, ensuring their continuity over time.
