Com esta dissertação, pretendo analisar a forma como a igualdade de género está,
ou não, presente no universo do cinema português, com foco no cinema independente.
Para atingir este objetivo farei um percurso histórico pelo cinema português que permitirá identificar as mulheres, excluindo atrizes, que nele tiveram um papel importante e analisar
os seus percursos profissionais. Como exemplo empírico escolhi o Festival de cinema Olhares do Mediterrâneo – Cinema no Feminino para pensar a presença de filmes realizados por mulheres em Portugal. Para este fim recorri a metodologias qualitativas
(através de entrevistas semi-dirigidas). Os impactos das desigualdades de género na sociedade portuguesa são múltiplos. Ao analisar a história do cinema português esta
dissertação contribui para o conhecimento sobre participação das mulheres nesta área,
para a compreensão da perceção que os profissionais do cinema têm sobre as
desigualdades de género que o caracterizam e ainda perceber o impacto destas na
divulgação do cinema feito por mulheres.

With this dissertation, I intend to analyze how gender equality is or is not present in the universe of portuguese cinema, with a focus on independent cinema. To achieve this goal, I will take a historical journey through portuguese cinema that will allow the identification of the women’s, excluding actresses, who played an important role in it and analyze their professional paths. As an empirical example, I chose the film festival
Olhares do Mediterrâneo - Cinema no Feminino to think about the presence of films made by women in Portugal. To do this, I resorted to qualitative methodologies (through semidirected interviews). The impacts of gender inequalities on portuguese society are multiple. By analyzing the history of portuguese cinema, this dissertation contributes to the knowledge about the participation of women in this area, to the understanding of the perception that cinema professionals have about the gender inequalities that characterize it and also to understand the impact of these in the dissemination of cinema made by women.
