O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a influência dos estilos parentais e das estratégias
de mediação parental no uso da internet no envolvimento em cyberbullying nas crianças e
adolescentes.
A amostra é composta por 199 participantes, 103 crianças e adolescentes e respetivo pai ou mãe
(n=96). Os critérios de inclusão foram a pertença a turmas do 3º ao 6º ano de escolaridade num
Colégio da área da Grande Lisboa.
Os resultados demonstram que os pais e as crianças utilizam a internet e as redes sociais, sendo
a casa e o telemóvel o local e o meio mais utilizados. Os pais revelam mais confiança na
utilização da internet.
Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre o uso da internet e o uso das redes sociais
nos diferentes estilos parentais. Os pais que adotam um estilo autoritativo revelaram recorrer
mais às mediações ativa, ativa de segurança, e técnica e reportaram monitorizar mais os seus
filhos no uso da internet, comparativamente aos pais que adotam um estilo negligente, sendo
que estes recorrem mais à mediação restritiva.
Verificou-se uma associação negativa entre a estratégia de mediação ativa e as crianças vítimas
de cyberbullying. A mediação restritiva revelou ser mais usada pelos pais das crianças que já
foram vítimas do que as que nunca passaram por esse tipo de situação.
Conclui-se que o uso de estratégias de mediação ativa reduz o envolvimento em situações de
cyberbullying. Assim, a intervenção neste sentido poderá minimizar os comportamentos de
risco que as crianças assumem.

The present study aims to analyze the influence of parental styles and strategies of parental
mediation in the use of the internet in the involvement in cyberbullying in children and
adolescents.
The sample is composed of 199 participants, 103 children and adolescents and their respective
parents (n = 96). The inclusion criteria were the membership of classes from grades 3 to 6 of
schooling in a college in the Greater Lisbon area.
The results demonstrate that parents and children use the internet and social networks, home
and mobile phone being the place and the means most used. Parents revealed more confidence
in using the internet.
No significant differences were found between the use of the internet and the use of social
networks in different parental styles. Parents who adopt an authoritative style revealed greater
use of active mediation, of active safety, and technical and reported more monitoring their
children´s in the use of the internet, compared to parents who adopt a negligent style, being that
these resort to restrictive mediation.
There was a negative association between the active mediation strategy and children victims of
cyberbullying. Restrictive mediation revealed to be more used by the parents of children who
have already been victims than those who have never been through such situations.
We conclude that the use of active mediation strategies reduces involvement in cyberbullying
situations. Thus, intervention in this sense may minimize the risk behaviors that children
assume.
