O projeto tem como base a investigação e produção do tema do Parque
Florestal de Monsanto. Esta tese divide-se em dois tomos.
O Tomo I apresenta o enquadramento teórico deste mesmo tema, apresentado
em diferentes capítulos: a História de Monsanto, cartografia
como linha cronológica e mapas que definem vários temas do Parque.
O Tomo II é o desenvolvimento do projeto individual, que responde à
identificação do problema da falta de continuidade que o Parque tem
com a malha urbana da Cidade de Lisboa.
A proposta nasce com base em dois temas: os alinhamentos do Bairro do
Caramão da Ajuda e do Miradouro dos Montes Claros e a transformação
da antiga linha de água num percurso.
Por estar a desenvolver num cruzamento entre dois universos, o projeto
respeita a topografia e trabalha sobre um sistema de cotas que são vencidas
por rampas, socalcos e terraços.
Este sistema aproveita e resolve algumas estruturas mal caracterizadas
do bairro como o Centro Recreativo do Caramão, o Centro de Apoio
Desportivo do Clube de Rugby do Beleneneses e a falta de centralidade
urbana.
Um volume central que se eleva do solo e dois encastrados no terreno,
são responsáveis pelo remate do bairro e redesenham o limite do Parque.
A presença de elementos de água, que acompanham um percurso que
conecta o Miradouro dos Montes Claros ao limite Sul do bairro, determinam
espaços de permanência e de passagem estratégicos a cotas
distintas.

The project is based on the investigation and production of the theme of
Monsanto Forest Park. This thesis is divided into two parts.
Part I presents the theoretical framework of this theme, presented in
different chapters: the History of Monsanto, cartography as a chronological
timeline, and maps that define various themes of the Park.
Part II is the development of the individual project, which responds to
the identification of the problem of the Park’s lack of continuity with the
urban fabric of the City of Lisbon.
The proposal is based on two subjects: the alignments of the Caramão
da Ajuda neighbourhood and the Miradouro dos Montes Claros, and
the transformation of the old water line into a path.
As it is being developed at the intersection of two universes, the project
respects the topography and works on a system of elevations that are
overcome by ramps, slopes and terraces.
This system takes advantage of and resolves some poorly characterised
structures in the neighbourhood, such as the Centro Recreativo do Caramão,
the Centro de Apoio Desportivo do Clube de Rugby do Beleneneses
and the lack of urban centrality.
A central volume rising from the ground and two embedded in the terrain
are responsible for closing off the neighbourhood and redesigning
the park’s boundary.
The presence of water features, which accompany a path connecting the
Miradouro dos Montes Claros to the southern edge of the neighbourhood,
determine strategic spaces for staying and passing through at
different levels.
