Assistimos em Portugal a um crescimento do mercado da ajuda, sendo os serviços cada vez mais especializados. Um novo nicho desse sector é hoje dirigido aos migrantes: instituições públicas, privadas e associações têm vindo a desenvolver projectos de intervenção no âmbito do apoio e inserção dos imigrantes.
Este estudo pretende analisar criticamente estes modelos de intervenção. Para tal tomamos como estudo de caso a UAVIDRE, a Unidade de Apoio à Vítima Imigrante e de Discriminação Racial ou Étnica da APAV (Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima).
Neste trabalho serão identificadas as estratégias e os constrangimentos sentidos pelos técnicos que trabalham nesta instituição. Serão também analisados os percursos migratórios e os episódios de vitimização dos utentes da UAVIDRE, bem como a sua percepção e avaliação da intervenção e dos serviços prestados dentro da instituição.

Portugal is facing a growth in ‘the market of help”, as services are increasingly more specialized. A new niche in this sector is now aimed at migrants: public and private institutions and associations have been developing projects of intervention with regard to support and integration of immigrants.
This study aims to critically examine these models of intervention. We have therefore considered the case study of UAVIDRE, the Support Unit for Immigrant Victims of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination of APAV, the Portuguese Association for Victim Support.
This work will identify the strategies and constraints experienced by technicians working in this institution. It will also analyse the migrant backgrounds and the cases of victimisation of the users of UAVIDRE, as well as their perception and evaluation of interventions and services within the institution.
