This paper presents the results of an investigation about the topic of happiness and how it may influence retirement savings and investments. Using a survey of 951 employees, we analyzed the role of happiness in saving and investment decisions for retirement. The results identified self-efficacy as a mediator in the relationship between happiness and retirement savings and in the relationship between happiness and retirement investments. We concluded that happier people tend to see themselves as more efficient in the way they manage resources for retirement, which influences their savings and the tendency to risk in their investments.
