This paper work proposes to identify the relationship between architecture and cinem a thought the
analyses of two different sides of these arts: the representative and creative side and the technological
and constructive side.
The fact of imaginary scenarios being physically absents, creates a constructive process and a
representative space, which can be called fantasy architecture. Dissecting som e visions about the
future though the journey transmitted by science fiction movies, where the modern architecture is
represented.
Focusing the technological evolution, the paper also proposes to realize another journey, looking for
the identification of special effects techniques, which allow the exhibition of imaginary scenarios.
Three contacts with the future though movies are presented as cases of study, each of one
representing a different phase of modern architecture: The search for modern architecture – Things to
Come (1936) by William Cam eron Menzies; The criticism of modern architecture – movies by Jacques
Tati; The postmodern – Blade Runner (1982) by Ridley Scott.
The architecture is represented has a narrative by the cinema in many ways, creating scenarios of
authentic cities so that the stories become real. In the process of architectural design, this narrative
exists when the spaces are created to be lived and are drawn according the perspective of their use.
The end of this paper work, tries to enhance the mode of architectonic representation giving use to
sm all simulating narratives of the architecture project.
