Os angolares teriam sangue e comportamento “mais africano” e inferior, como resultado da sua pureza intacta, sinónimo de primitividade. O sangue misturado dos forros é a metáfora que valida e legitima uma cultura grupal que se considera mais propensa à civilidade e portanto à ocupação de lugares de maior poder socio-político e económico.

Forros and angolares feel genetically and ontologically distinct: the forros consider themselves superior due to the union with a greatly valued blood, the european one, that ideally had only mixed with forros ancestors. The angolares would have a “more african” blood and behaviour, being that way less civilized as a result of that supposed absence: they’re the purest, the untouchable, the real primitives. The mixed blood of the forros is the metaphor that gives legitimacy to a cultural group which consider themselves more civilized and so more prone to having valid access to socio-political and economic positions of power.
