Com um aumento de importância que tem sido atribuída ao voluntariado torna-se relevante aprofundar essa temática. Alguns estudos têm verificado uma correlação entre a Crença no Mundo Justo (CMJ, Lerner, 1980), a Autoeficácia para a Promoção da Justiça no Mundo (AEPJM, Mohiyeddini & Montada, 1998) e os comportamentos pró-sociais. Na sequência desses resultados, os principais objetivos deste estudo são perceber a relação quer entre CMJ Pessoal, quer a CMJ Geral, com os diferentes Motivos do Voluntariado propostos por Clary, Snyder, Ridge, Copeland, Stukas, Haugen & Meine (1998). Outro objetivo é ainda perceber se a AEPJM modera essas relações, mais concretamente perceber se quanto maior for a AEPJM maior será a relação entre a CMJ e os Motivos do Voluntariado.
Assim, foi realizado um questionário que pretendeu medir as variáveis referidas e foi aplicado a voluntários de diferentes instituições (N=70). Os resultados obtidos permitem verificar que existe uma correlação positiva entre a CMJP e os Motivos do Voluntariado e que a AEPJM modera essa relação, verificando-se que quanto maior é a AEPJM maior é a associação entre CMJP e os Motivos do Voluntariado. Já a CMJG não está correlacionada com esses Motivos. Para além disso, os resultados permitem observar que o único motivo que não é previsto pela interação entre a CMJP e a AEPJM é o de “valores”, o motivo mais altruísta, podendo concluir-se que a CMJ de uma pessoa se correlaciona mais com motivos egoístas do que propriamente motivos relacionados com a preocupação com os outros.

With the increasing significance that has been accredited to the volunteer work, it is relevant to develop that topic. Some studies have shown a correlation between The Belief in a Just World (BJW, Lerner, 1980), the Self-Efficay in Promoting Justice in the World (SEJW, Mohiyeddini & Montada, 1998) and the prosocial behaviour. In response to those results, the main goals of this study are to understand the relation either of the Personal BJW or the General BJW, with the several Motives to Volunteer suggested by Clary, Snyder, Ridge, Copeland, Stukas, Haugen & Meine (1998). Another goal is to understand if the SEJW moderates those relations, more specifically to understand if the higher SEJW the higher the relation between the BJW and the Motives to Volunteer.
Therefore, we conducted a survey with the intention to measure the stated variables and was applied to volunteers of different institutions (N=70). The results allow us to check that there is a positive correlation between the PBJW and the Motives to Volunteer and that the SEJW moderates that relation and to verify that the higher SEJW the higher the association between the BJW and the Motives to Volunteer. On the other hand, the GBJW is not correlated with those Motives. Furthermore, the results show that the only motive that is not foreseen by the interaction between the PBJW and the SEJW is the one related to “values”, the most altruistic one, giving us the conclusion that one’s BJW is more correlated with selfish motives than with motives related to the concern for others.
