Este trabalho tem como finalidade investigar e analisar o impacto da variação da taxa de câmbio real nas exportações e importações de bens em Cabo Verde. Nesta análise, teve-se a preocupação de introduzir as variáveis PIB externo e PIB de Cabo Verde para ajudar a explicar o comportamento das exportações e importações. Estudou-se detalhadamente os aspectos teóricos que envolvem e relacionam o comportamento da taxa de câmbio real e das exportações e importações. A metodologia utilizada é o modelo Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR) em diferenças, com dados anuais compreendidos entre 1983 a 2008. Efectuou-se um estudo das variáveis taxa de câmbio, exportações e importações de bens, PIB externo e interno em termos reais. Os resultados indicam que existe relação entre essas variáveis mas o impacto da taxa de câmbio real sobre as exportações e importações de bens é pouco significativo, ou seja, é menor do que as influências do PIB de Cabo Verde e do PIB externo.

This work aims to investigate and analyze the impact of the change of real exchange rate on exports and imports of goods in Cape Verde. In this analysis, it was taken into account the introduction of external variables GDP and GDP of Cape Verde in order to help explain the behavior of exports and imports. The theoretical aspects that involve and relate the behavior of real exchange rate and exports and imports were studied in detail. The model Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR) in differences, was the methodology that was used to analyze all the variables, with annual data from 1983 to 2008. It was conducted a study of the variables exchange rate, exports and imports of goods, external and internal GDP in real terms. The results indicate that there is a relation between these variables, but the impact of real exchange rate on exports and imports of goods is negligible, which means, is smaller than the influences of the GDP of Cape Verde and foreign GDP.
