About this ranking
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is published by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. The ranking indicators include those measures of research quality, extent of international collaboration, research with top quality, and the highest academic recognitions.
This ranking is compiled using the following performance indicators:
- Publications in Q1: number of papers published in Q1 Journal Impact Factor Quartile;
- Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI): ratio of citation of papers published by an institution to the average citations of papers in the same category;
- International collaboration (IC): number of publications that have been found with at least two different countries;
- Top Journals: number of papers published in Top Journals.
- Awards: total number of the staff wining a significant award in an Academic Subject since 1981.
