By analysing the main contemporary economic issues from a pluralistic and interdisciplinary perspective , the Master prepares students to work in the private sector (within consulting companies, the financial sector and financial journalism), in the public sector (in government and municipal bodies) and in international organisations (governmental and non-governmental). This program also prepares students to continue into doctoral studies in the field of Political Economy if they so choose. In this regard, there is a complementary relationship between the doctoral program in Political Economy, launched during the academic year 2019-2020, and this Master. The PhD in Political Economy is a joint program between three universities: Iscte, ISEG-UL and FEUC.
Students who complete the Master in Political Economy will be able to pursue work in the following contexts, among others:
- Government and municipal bodies;
- European institutions, international organisations and international non-governmental organisations;
- Consulting companies, financial sector and financial journalism
- Academic research
