With the growing digital transformation and dependence on information and communication technologies, organizations have seen an increase in their exposure to new security threats that could compromise their own operations. This is a scenario that raises enormous challenges that require an adequate response.

Graduates of this course are qualified to deal with these challenges and are prepared to identify and assess cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities and threats, being able to plan, implement, manage and maintain the security of information systems and communication networks. They will also be equipped with knowledge and skills in implementing and carrying out continuous monitoring operations and detecting cybersecurity threats, investigating and reporting incidents and in cryptographic mechanisms to protect information.

As cybersecurity is a multidisciplinary area, the curricular program benefits from the contribution of different areas of knowledge (data security, components, software and applications, networks, systems, people, organizations and society), allowing students to acquire integrated training.

Director(s) message

Carlos Serrão

Cybersecurity challenges are increasing. The accelerated digital transformation and dependence on information and communication technologies mean that organizations are increasingly exposed to threats that put their assets at risk.

Cybersecurity, in its different dimensions, must be a central concern of modern society. A safe environment is essential for establishing and developing any economic or social activity.

To achieve this, and in accordance with the main international cybersecurity recommendations, organizations must develop the following capabilities:

  • Identification – Development of an organizational understanding capable of managing cybersecurity risk for systems, people, assets, data and capabilities;
  • Protection – Development and implementation of appropriate safeguards to ensure the provision of critical services;
  • Detection – Development and implementation of activities to identify the occurrence of cybersecurity events;
  • Response – Development and implementation of appropriate activities to take action regarding cybersecurity incidents;
  • Recovery – Developing and implementing appropriate activities to maintain resilience plans and restore any capabilities or services that were harmed due to cybersecurity incidents.

Throughout this challenging and current Degree, students will develop the necessary skills so that, in the future, they can help organizations in the planning, development and operation of the cybersecurity capabilities mentioned above.

Become a cybersecurity professional and help build a safer digital future.
