What are the professional opportunities for this course?
Students who complete this Degree are qualified to identify and assess cybersecurity risks and threats, plan, implement, manage and maintain the security of information and communication technologies, through:
- Identification of the main risks, assessment of probability and impact and proposal of appropriate mitigation measures;
- Planning, installation and management of appropriate information and communication technologies;
- Understanding the main legal and ethical requirements of cybersecurity;
- Planning and carrying out security audits of systems, applications and communications networks;
- Implementation and execution of continuous monitoring operations and detection of cybersecurity threats, research and reporting of incidents;
- Knowledge and application of cryptographic mechanisms to protect information at rest and in transit;
- Understanding, identifying and mitigating security issues in applications and software development.
What is the employability of this course?
According to multiple international studies, there is a serious shortage of professionals in the area of cybersecurity to meet market needs. The study carried out by (ISC)2 - an international non-profit organization made up of professionals in the field - estimates a shortage of around 1.8 million professionals in this area given the current needs of organizations by the end of 2022.
Thus, the area of cybersecurity is, and will continue to be, one of the areas with the highest employability rate, in which the global market will quickly absorb all trained professionals.
