Requirements
To apply for the PhD Program applicants should:
a) hold a Master's degree in Psychology or legal equivalent or holders of a Master's degree in other Sciences, recognized by the PhD Scientific Committee as attesting the capacity to complete a doctoral degree; or
b) hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, or a Bachelor's degree in other Sciences in combination with a relevant academic or scientific curriculum that is recognized by the PhD Scientific Committee as attesting the capacity to complete a doctoral degree; or
c) demonstrate an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum that is recognized by the PhD Scientific Committee as attesting the capacity to complete a doctoral degree.
Candidates must submit a Motivation Letter stating the topic they wish to develop and its alignment with the Research Unit, CIS-Iscte.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Doctoral Program in Psychology encourages applicants to find external or internal funding for their training. Within the national private and public funding, we highlight:
Iscte Internal Scholarships
a) FCT CIS_Iscte PhD Scholarships
The FCT CIS_Iscte PhD Scholarships are 48 months long and are intended to support national and foreign citizens in developing research leading to a doctorate degree in psychology within the scope of the strategy and activities of Cis_Iscte.
The research plan can be conducted entirely at Iscte or partially in another Portuguese (national grant) or foreign institution (mixed grant).
We recommend that holders of certificates/diplomas issued by Non-Portuguese higher education institutions request the recognition of their foreign qualifications (that is, Degree and Diploma) before submitting their application.
For the purposes of evaluation of the applicant’s merit, the recognition of Non-Portuguese academic degrees must be completed at the time of submission of the application to FCT CIS_Iscte scholarships.

When the Recognition request is submitted, please send an email to phd.psychology@iscte-iul.pt , indicating what kind of Recognition was requested (Automatic, Level, or Specific).

b) Iscte's Merit-Based Scholarships for PhD Students
National and international students enrolled and registered full-time, and for the first time, in the PhD Program in Psychology at Iscte can apply for this type of scholarship. The Call for applications will be advertised on the website of Iscte.
Merit-Based scholarships aim to distinguish the achievement of academic excellence, as well as professional skills relevant to the PhD course.
These scholarships are 48 months long and intended to support the research work leading to a doctorate degree, thus allowing for developing PhD students’ scientific and academic skills.

c) Iscte's Internal Scholarships for PhD Students
Candidates admitted to the PhD Programme in Psychology at Iscte and enrolled full-time can apply for this type of scholarship. The Call for applications will be advertised on the website of Iscte.
The aim of this type of scholarship is the progressive development of students' skills in scientific, pedagogical, and technical activities that are relevant for the student's training. The number of scholarships to be awarded is established by the Conselho de Gestão of Iscte.
