Alessandro Pinheiro holds a degree in Business Administration (a 4-year course, pre-Bologna), a postgraduate degree in Marketing, a master's degree in Business Administration, and a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science and Technology (ISCTE-IUL) and an Assistant Professor in the undergraduate programs in Management Informatics, Game Development, and Computer Engineering (European University). An education enthusiast, he believes in the transformative power of knowledge and is passionately dedicated to promoting learning.
Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.
Alzira Duarte, MBA/Master in Business Administration at ISCTE-IUL. Since 2001 she is Assistant in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at ISCTE-IUL. PhD student, she is working in The Paradoxical Management of Corporate Social Responsibility. She has collaborations on journals, with papers and book chapters published. Prior to joining ISCTE-IUL, she was HRM Specialist and she worked as consultant on Organizational Development and HRM. Her research interests include corporate social responsibility and family business, and e-HRM and healthcare management.
Ana Isabel Lopes, Ph.D., is a full time Assistant Professor of the Accounting Department at Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL) and integrated member of the researcher center BRU/UNIDE, in Lisbon (Portugal). She has experience in teaching in doctoral and master programs, executive education, and undergraduate programs, engaging in courses related with financial accounting and business reporting, management control in multinationals, and consolidated financial statements. Currently, she is Director of the MSc program in Accounting and she is the Executive Director of the post-graduation in Finance and Accounting Applied. She has an extensive experience in coordinating programs in high education institutions. She also supervises doctoral and master students' dissertations. She is active in presenting conference papers in national and international congresses (by submission or invitation). Her research interests cover international financial accounting and reporting, integrated and sustainability reporting, business combinations, and corporate governance. Ana Isabel has published in leading academic journals such as 'Australian Journal of Management', 'European Business Review', 'Accounting Education', 'Spanish Journal of Finance and Accounting', 'Journal of Economics and Business', and 'Meditari Accountancy Research'.
Ana Margarida Passos is Associate Professor with habilitation in the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior at ISCTE-IUL Business School. She has a PhD in Social and Organizational Psychology. She has been investigating the drivers of team effectiveness and adaptability over time. Her research in this area began to focus on the characteristics of the team members (team diversity) and on team processes, as is the case of intragroup conflicts. More recently, she has been investigating the role of cognitions (team mental models and transactive memory systems), emotions, behaviors (e.g., team leadership, team learning behaviors) on team effectiveness and adaptation with a temporal focus. Areas of application include teams in the context of high education, banking, insurance and humanitarian action.
Sofia Oliveira is a Contracted Researcher (2023.08903.CEECIND) at BRU-Iscte investigating the promotion of social-emotional learning, self-care and positive leadership in professionals of education, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Iscte-Business School.
She has a PhD in Educational Psychology (2018-2023; FCT SFRH/BD/137845/2018) from the University of Lisbon (UL) and the University of Coimbra, and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology (2015-2017) from UL, under which she received two awards.
She has been a researcher in funded projects since 2015, such as "EWRI2022 - Exploitative working relationships: Impact on employees’ health and behaviors", "Study of Burnout in the Portuguese Medical Class", "Effects of a mindfulness-based intervention for teachers: A study on teacher and student outcomes", "Cyberbullying: The regulation of behavior through language". Since 2018, she has also lectured in the Integrated Master's in Psychology and Master's in Educational and Vocational Psychology at the FPUL.
Her main research interests focus on Social and Emotional Learning, Self-care, Occupational Health and Well-being, Stress and Burnout, Professional Training, and Organizational Climate.
As a form of internationalisation, Sofia is determined in participating in and establishing new research networks, some of which already include the WANT Group with the Universitat Jaume I, Spain; the EDUCARE group with the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, and the Universitat Jaume I, Spain; as well as the Study and Research Group of Self-regulated Learning with the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil.
Also, Sofia is diligent regarding the national and international dissemination of her work in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. In terms of skills and other professional activities, Sofia has developed her skills in qualitative (e.g., content analysis, systematic reviews) and quantitative analyses (e.g., multivariate analyses, structural equation modeling) with specific software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo, MaxQDA) and research methods (i.e., using digital platforms such as Qualtrics, Teleform) in Psychology, Education and, recently, in Management. She has also been committed to reviewing for many peer-review journals, such as International Journal of Stress Management, Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health, Educational Research Review, among others.
Andrea Fontes is an invited teacher, a psychologist, a coach and a consultant in Human Resources. She holds two degrees, respectively in the areas of Organization and Business management and Psychology, a Master in Psychology, Counseling and Psychotherapy and a Phd in Organizational Psychology in ISCTE. She has 20 years experience in multinational companies practice field, in several areas, from Marketing&Sales to Consumer Research and Human Resources.
Publications in scientific journals and book chapters have been mainly within the coaching topic. Her researches were also presented in several national and international conferences. Research interests revolve around HR practices for development and positive interventions at the workplace.
Mariza Alpoim Motta Queiroz is an economist with more than 30 years of experience in a public transport operator. She has also a MSc in Transportation and a PhD in Transportation Systems at CERIS, in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Mobility Expert at URBACT. Vice-chair of the Research in Mobility UITP Committee. Presently, she is an Invited Assistant Professor at the ISCTE- Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and a member of the U-Shift Lab (IST - Instituto Superior Técnico). She has publications as author and she is also reviewer of Journals publications. Certified in Project Management (PMP). Certified in Product Owner (CSPO).
Catarina Marques is an Associate Professor at the Department of Quantitative Methods for Management and Economics (DQMME) of Iscte Business School and a researcher of BRU-Iscte's Data Analytics Research Group. She has a BSc in Applied Mathematics, a MSc in Business Administration and a PhD in Quantitative Methods with a specialisation in Statistics and Data Analysis. Her main research has been centred on structural equation modelling. More recently she has used her experience and competencies to research in Data Science.
Catarina participated in the development of the undergraduate programme in Data Science at Iscte, having been Director of the BSc in Data Science (2019-2023). Since November 2023, she has coordinated the Data Science specialisation of the PhD in Management.
She has been a member of the PhD in Tourism Management Scientific Committee since February 2017. She was a member of Iscte's Pedagogical Council (2019-2021), and during 6 years, Catarina coordinated the 2nd year of the BSc in Management. She is currently an alternate member of Iscte's Scientific Council.
She holds a PhD in Economics from Iscte-IUL and the University of Bourgogne (France), a Master's degree in Economics and Human Resources Management and a degree in Sociology (ISCTE-IUL). She is full professor at the Department of Political Economy of ISCTE-IUL, and an integrated researcher at the Centre for Studies on Socioeconomic Change and Territory (DINÂMIA'CET). She is director of the Master's Degree in Human Resources Development Policies and deputy director of DINÂMIA'CET. She was coordinator of the FCT project, 'Flexible pay for flexible contracts? The dynamics of the relationship between wage policy and employment contracts at the firm level' between 2009-2013 (PTDC/EGE-ECO/108547/2008) and the FCT project 'Bringing Higher Education, Training and Quality of Employment Closer', between 2018-2022 (PTDC/SOC-SOC/30016/2017). She is the coordinator of the Youth Employment Observatory (DINAMIA-Iscte-IUL). Her main study and research interests include skills demand, compensation policies and labour market segmentation.

She is Associate Professor at the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior at ISCTE Business School. She is Director of the LIA Iscte - Laboratory for Innovation in Academia. She is Director of the Executive Master in Healthcare Services Management. She is Director of the Executive Master in Strategic People Management and Leadership, of the Executive Master in Healthcare Services Management and of the Post-Graduation at ISCTE Executive Education. The main areas of research are healthcare management and strategic people management. She has been a member of boards of directors (or advisor) and has extensive consulting experience in Strategic People Management, Healthcare Services Management and Organizational Change in multiple organizations, private, public and social economy, across different business sectors.

Has the Agregation degree in Human Resources (ISCTE 2020); PhD in Organizational and Social Psychology (ISCTE 2007), related to Cooperation and Free-riding on organizations; Master in Organizational and Social psychology about Ethics and Responsibility (ISCTE 2001) and graduated in Management (ISCTE 1991).
During his professional career he had participated in the evaluation of EU programs, had been human resource manager at a financial institution (1993-1998) and assumed a technical HRM job at a major company in the car sector (1990-1993).
His research interests are subordinated to uncertainty,cooperation and counter-productive behaviors in teams, as well to the relationships between HR practices and the establishment of power asymmetries and trust on organizations.
Inês C. Sousa is a postdoctoral researcher in the POIESIS project at CIES-Iscte. Additionally, she serves as an Invited Assistant Professor at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, where she teaches courses on Work and Organizational Psychology, Safety and Health at Work, and Organizational Behavior. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and completed her Master's degree in Social and Organizational Psychology. In 2020, she earned her Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior from Iscte. Her doctoral thesis is entitled “Leveraging an aging workforce: Contributions to longer and better working lives”. Inês's research interests span aging at work, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, retirement, science communication, and public involvement in science. She has published her work in reputable journals such as Current Psychology, Work, Aging and Retirement, Journal of Managerial Psychology, and Frontiers in Psychology.
Isabel Duarte de Almeida is an assistant professor with 27 years of experience in higher education and is the coordinator of Research Lines in Sustainable Development. She teaches at ISCTE-IUL, Portugal, and at Universidade Lusíada and participates in academic activities abroad, including at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) at the University of Cambridge, the University of Palermo (UniPa), Sicily, Italy, and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in Germany.
Isabel Duarte de Almeida holds a 5-year degree in Biology from the University of Lisbon (UL/FC, Portugal) and earned her first PhD in Biology at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science. She also holds a second PhD in Sociology and Sustainability Management from the Nova University of Lisbon (UNL/FCSH, Portugal), a postgraduate degree in Circular Economy from the University of Berkeley, a postgraduate degree in Sociology from UNL, and a Field Epidemiology – Outbreak Investigation course from the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge.
She was a researcher at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science for 12 years. She has published in Q1 and Q2 journals (Scientific SCOPUS index), in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and acts as a reviewer for AoM and EurOMA conferences and Springer. Her research interests include Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Sustainability, and Green Supply Chains.
Ongoing research projects:
Project I: The EM@IPLeiria project from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria aims to address the challenges of the digital and green transition in the Leiria and Oeste regions, promoting deeper cooperation between education, research, companies, and society. Focused on transforming academic knowledge into regional value, the Mission Structure (launched in March 2023) brings together key actors from the region to, in a participatory way, drive strategic and operational development, promoting resilience, sustainability, and the creation of wealth in the local ecosystem.
Project II: INOVMINERAL 4.0 - Advanced Technologies and Software for Mineral Resources. The main objective of this project is to redirect innovative industrial models for the extractive industry, developing advanced technologies, new products, and software for the entire value chain: upstream processes, mineral resource valorisation, and market. The project has a strong focus on the Circular Economy.
Project III: Business students’ perceptions of ethics and sustainability in business. This research area explores business students’ perceptions of corporate ethics and sustainability management.
MARIA HELENA PESTANA has been a professor at ISCTE since 1982. She holds a PhD in Quantitative Management Methods in the area of Market Research. She is a researcher in Statistics, Econometrics, and Data Analysis applied in the fields of Demography, Economics, Finance, Gerontology, Management, Psychology, Health, Sociology, and Tourism. She is the author of books and scientific articles in national and foreign publications. She is a researcher at Unifai-Universidade do Porto and researcher-collaborator at Dinamia_ISCTE and CEPCEP_UCP. CINTESIS, Centro de Investigação em Tecnologias e Serviços de Saúde,Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP), www.cintesis.eu. Helena received a certificate from the PSE company that represents in Portugal the IBM-SPSS for having pioneered in Portugal the first books of statistics and data analysis complemented with SPSS and its applications (1998, 2005, 2009, 2014). In the last 20 years, research interest has been directed essentially towards the application of multivariate analysis (quantitative/qualitative), scientometrics/bibliometrics, programming, big data, social networks, and the like with applications in the field of health and social sciences.
Maria João Velez is Assistant Professor at the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior. Her research interests include ethical leadership, destructive leadership, followership, emotions in the workplace, occupational stress, coping strategies, having some of her work published in international journals such as Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, European Review of Applied Psychology or The Leadership Quarterly. Furthermore, she has also participated in several national and international research projects.
Graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, whith a Master's degree in Business Law, in the area of Labor Law, from ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, she has a PhD in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Corunha (Spain) and from NOVA School of Law (Lisbon-Portugal).
In addition to complementary training courses, he has participated in numerous National and International Congresses and Seminars, often as a lecturer.
He has been teaching at several university institutions, with special emphasis on ISCTE - IUL – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, where he teaches several courses in the Master’s Degree in Business and Labor Law, as well as in the Master’s in Labor Sciences and Labor Relations and in the Master in Human Resources Development Policies. She was an invited Lecturer in postgraduate courses at the Lisbon and Porto Law Faculties.
She has supervised numerous dissertations, in addition to participating, as Arguente, in several Masters juries.
She is the author of several essays and articles published in books and national and international magazines on Employment Law topics.
Renato Lopes da Costa is however recognized for his work in academic terms, having published more than a hundred scientific articles in the main international business management journals index by scopus and Wos and, 9 books in the same scientific area. Throughout his career for several years he developed his business activity in the areas of retail and banking, developing projects of an operational nature in the areas of banking and management control in the retail area. Renato Lopes da Costa completed his doctorate in the area of business strategy at ISCTE - University of Lisbon, where he developed a pioneering work on the practices and praxis used by management consultants in the development of their work in client companies, contributing to the state of the art in scientific area of business strategy in the field of strategy-as-practice research. Renato Lopes da Costa also has the title of Habilitation in Management conferred by the University Institute of Lisbon, completed in 2022. As a university professor, he supervised more than two hundred of masters and doctorates in the area of business management, being recognized for this valence, as well as for his teaching ability in the area of business strategy in undergraduate, master's, executive master's and doctorate degrees, nationally and internationally. Having conducted several courses at Portugal universities, he is currently director of the MscBA - Master in Business Administration at ISCTE (being listed on the prestigious lists of the Financial Times as one of the best European courses in the scientific area of management) and Diretor of the Global Master Series INDEG in Business Management, Marketing e Finance e Risk Management. Between 2021 and 2023, Renato Lopes da Costa belonged to the scientific council of ISCTE as a member of the plenary.
Sandra Costa is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at ISCTE-IBS. She holds a PhD in Management from Nova SBE. She teaches a variety of courses in HRM, OB, Organizational and Occupational Psychology, and Quantitative Research Methods at different universities: University of Liverpool (UK), Nova SBE (PT), Universidade Europeia (PT) and IPAM (PT). She published in academic journals such as the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, British Journal of Management and Work & Stress. She is now Principal Investigator in a Foundation for Science and Technology -funded project.
Sara Ramos, PhD in Psychology, specializing in Work Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Porto in 2006.

Areas of teaching: research methods, qualitative methods, work psychology and human resources. The latest research has focused on the relationship between health, age and work more specifically on the topic of aging and work.
PhD in Social and Organizational Psychology (Specialization in Organizational Behavior) at ISCTE-IUL in 2009. Faculty in ISCTE-IUL since 1997,she is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior lecturing several courses in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles in this area. She has several publications in national and international chapters in books and scientific journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Leadership Quarterly, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Applied Psychology: An International Review, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, and British Journal of Health Psychology among others. She investigates on creativity at work and innovation in organizations, well-being, organizational identification, work-family interface and entrepreneurship.
