The Degree in Digital Technologies and Automation combines the areas of sensors, programming, robotics and artificial intelligence for the development and management of intelligent production systems, responding to the current challenges of digital transformation in industry and services. 

Director(s) message

Automation and digital technologies are revolutionizing production systems. The integration of artificial intelligence, robotics and cyber-physical systems is transforming the way processes are optimized, managed and planned. 

The Degree in Digital Technologies and Automation offers students practical training in programmed electronics, software development for real-time computing platforms and information and automation systems, enabling them to plan, install and manage intelligent systems - including production systems, smart homes and smart cities. Students develop skills in automatic measurement and control systems, industrial communication networks, intelligent sensors and robotics, virtual reality and human-machine interaction.

Teaching and learning methods are student-centered, promoting an active and comprehensive experience. Students are challenged to integrate and apply the knowledge acquired throughout the course in the creation of intelligent and highly innovative solutions with application in industrial systems, responding to the concrete and current challenges of digital transformation in companies. Teaching activities are concentrated in shifts (morning or afternoon), allowing for greater flexibility and a focus on self-study. 

Iscte-Sintra promotes the development of essential skills, such as communication, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship, which are fundamental for acting responsibly and effectively in the job market. In the final year of the course, students have the opportunity to choose optional subjects according to their personal or professional areas of interest. 

Graduates in Digital Technologies and Automation have a wide range of professional opportunities available to them. They can work as automation specialists, developing and maintaining automated systems in different types of companies, or as Internet of Things (IoT) specialists, integrating smart devices in various sectors. Other positions include control system programmers, technology consultants and technology project managers. With the growing demand for automation and digitalization in various sectors of society, professionals in this field are highly valued in sectors such as industry, commerce or logistics, among others.
