Children are able to feel all emotions and it is through empathy that they can experience, in a different way, the experiences of others and learn from them. Only in this way will they be able to grow, realizing that everything is not exactly how they feel, think or see. Given that emotions play an important role in our everyday cognitive and behavioural functions, it is important not only to know them but also to develop critical thinking about them.

João de Deus preschool in Leiria, in partnership with the Department of Social Psychology and Organizations of ISCTE-IUL (Master in "Sciences of Emotions" and Master in "Community Psychology and Protection of Children and Young People at Risk"), and the Emoções Association, organizes the 2nd Congress of Emotional Education: From Inside Out - How is Empathy born? at ISCTE-IUL on May 5 and 6, 2017.

Dedicated to the theme of Empathy, this year we seek to promote a debate among researchers and professionals in the field of health, education, justice and politics, in order to reflect the importance of looking at each other, not only in these areas but also in society in general.
