The final conference of COST Action CA18213: Rural NEET Youth Network took place last week, on 12 March, at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, under the title "Rural youth: Alternative futures for more hopeful rural societies".

Several round tables analysed topics such as the future of young people on the periphery of Europe, the contributions of the Rural NEET Youth Network to Education and Employment, but also to Social Inclusion and Sustainability. The possibility that young people could be the next rural resource was also debated (in co-organisation with the EU Rural Pact).

Francisco Simões (CIS-Iscte), coordinator of this COST action, closed the project's final event by presenting the main result: the European Observatory for Rural Youth.

The event was also attended by Iscte's vice-rector for Internationalisation, Professor Maria das Dores Guerreiro.
