The winners of the 1st edition of the João Ferreira de Almeida Prize, instituted by Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon and the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS), of which João Ferreira de Almeida was member no. 1 and its first President, have been announced.
This award was created in 2023 in honour of João Ferreira de Almeida, a professor and researcher distinguished for his decisive role in the field of social sciences and the institutionalisation of sociology as a scientific discipline in Portugal.
Every two years, the prize honours books and scientific articles in the field of sociology, authored by individuals or groups.
