Esta dissertação é constituída por três partes: a primeira refere-se às questões da Industrialização, sua contribuição e consequências para a evolução da Imprensa; a segunda trata do aperfeiçoamento do design desde a Revolução Industrial; e a terceira apresenta um breve estudo sobre o Diário de Noticias e evolução gráfica ao longo da sua história. A difusão de novas tecnologias com base na revolução industrial inicia um ciclo que viria a ser a modernização industrial através da substituição da tecnologia de base electromecânica para uma tecnologia de base electrónica. Esta tendência é acompanhada na impressão de jornais. As alterações ao nível gráfico a que assistimos, ao longo da história, provam-nos a necessidade de mudança eminente mas gradual no sentido de atingir os objectivos a que o jornal se propõe.

This dissertation consists of three parts: the first refers to the issues of industrialization, its contribution and impact on the evolution of the Press, the second deals with the improvement of the design since the Industrial Revolution, and the third provides a brief study of the Daily Newspaper and of graphic evolution throughout its history. The diffusion of new technologies based on the industrial revolution starts a cycle that would be the industrial modernization by replacing Electro-Mechanical Technology base for a electronic based one. This tendency comes along with the printing of newspapers. The changes in the chart that we witness throughout history show us the need for a gradual but eminent change towards achieving the goals set by the Newspaper.
