A legislação que regula a segurança social do trabalhador doméstico atribui a este unicidades que o desfavorece perante os trabalhadores das outras profissões. De modo a investigar as atitudes e as formas de conduta que os trabalhadores do serviço doméstico manifestam face à segurança social a que têm direito, foi levado a cabo um estudo descritivo, de caracter qualitativo. A partir de um guião de entrevista semiestruturado, previamente preparado, foram entrevistadas 12 trabalhadoras domésticas. As primeiras entrevistas serviram, essencialmente, para conhecer melhor a população alvo, aperfeiçoando o respectivo guião. O mesmo destacava temáticas como o conhecimento, o interesse, bem como os sentimentos e as opiniões relativos à segurança social. Verificou-se que nove das dez participantes apresentavam uma atitude desfavorável à segurança social. A intensidade desse sentimento adverso atinge o máximo da escala com cinco das dez entrevistadas. Constatou-se, ainda, que as entrevistadas possuem ínfimos conhecimentos sobre a segurança social no geral, assim como dos direitos e obrigações dos trabalhadores domésticos. Por outro lado, estas demostraram uma preocupação especial com o apoio na saúde, explicando que gostariam que este fosse melhorado. Foi, também, possível verificar que existe uma relação entre as representações sociais das trabalhadoras domésticas, os anos de trabalho e a proximidade que têm com os patrões.

The law governing the social security for domestic workers attaches to them unique attributes which disfavor them against workers in other professions. In order to investigate the attitudes and forms of behavior that domestic service workers exhibit in face of the social security they are entitled a descriptive study of qualitative character was conducted. From a semi-structured interview guide, previously prepared, 12 domestic workers were interviewed . The first interviews were used mainly to better understand the target population, perfecting the script. This guide highlighted their knowledge, interest, feelings and opinions regarding social security. It was found that nine of the ten participants had an unfavorable attitude to social security. The intensity of this adverse feeling reaches the maximum scale with five out of the ten interviewed. It was also found that the respondents have negligible knowledge of social security in general, as well as negligible knowledge of the rights and duties of domestic workers. Moreover, they demonstrated a particular concern with health care, explaining that they would like it to be improved. It was also possible to verify that there is a relationship between social representations of domestic workers, the years of work and the closeness they have with their employers.
