Em 2015 estimava-se que, por ano, surgiam cerca de 9,9 milhões de novos casos de demência, aproximadamente um caso a cada 3,25 segundos (Prince et al, 2015). No presente estima-se que a Doença de Alzheimer represente cerca de 60% a 70% das demências. Sendo a idade o maior fator de risco da demência, e considerando que Portugal é um dos países mais envelhecidos do mundo, a investigação relativa à melhoria de qualidade de vida e bem-estar dos idosos torna-se cada vez mais pertinente. Por esse motivo, apresenta-se uma investigação qualitativa de tipologia explicativaexploratória, que procura compreender de que modo o desenvolvimento local poderá constituir um acréscimo positivo nas dinâmicas relacionais e redes formais já existentes, que visam dar apoio a doentes de Alzheimer e aos seus familiares, levando à melhoria do bem-estar e qualidade de vida. Através de técnicas de investigação qualitativas – análise bibliográfica, observação participante e entrevistas (semiestruturada) procura-se alcançar o objetivo principal através da análise de dinâmicas relacionais em duas realidades distintas: na Associação Alzheimer Portugal e na clínica Neuro Ser. Nos resultados encontrados compreendeu-se que, enquanto ser social, o ser humano edifica a construção da sua identidade a partir da interação com o outro. Desta forma, o desinteresse e a falta de envolvimento em questões sociais poderá ser combatida através da volta ao local, mais concretamente, no envolvimento da comunidade em questões como a falta de soluções e apoios para famílias que lidem com a Doença de Alzheimer. A criação de um plano de ação local sustentável e adequado ao contexto, que permita articular os vários atores formais e a comunidade, irá permitir a criação e expansão de uma solução que as instituições não conseguem alcançar (devido a limites de logística e financiamento) – a criação de uma rede social.

In 2015 it was estimated that, per year, emerged about 9,9 million new cases of dementia, about one in each 3,25 seconds (Prince et al, 2015). In the present it is estimated that Alzheimer's disease represents about 60% to 70% of the dementias. Being the age the main risk factor of dementia, and taking in account that Portugal is one of the most aged countries in the world, the investigation regarding the improvement of the senior’s well-being becomes increasingly relevant. For this reason, a qualitative research of explanatory-exploratory typology is presented, which seeks to understand in what way local development can build a positive addiction in the relational dynamics and existing formal networks that aim to give support to Alzheimer's patients and their relatives, creating well-being and quality of life. Through the qualitative investigation techniques – bibliographic analyses, participant observation and interviews (semi structured) it’s pretended to achieve the main objective through the analysis of the relational dynamics in two distinct realities: in Portugal Alzheimer's Association (Associação Alzheimer Portugal) and in the NeuroSer clinic. In the founded results it was understood that, as a social being, the human being builds the construction of his identity from the interaction with the “other”. Thus, the lack of interest and involvement on social matters could be fought by returning to the local, more precisely, through the community involvement on issues such as the lack of solutions and support for the families that deal with Alzheimer's disease. The creation of a sustainable local action and suitable to the context, that allows to articulate the various formal actors and the community, will allow the conception and expansion of a solution which institutions cannot reach (due to logistics and financing limits) – the creation of a social network.
