Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.
Elizabeth Reis is full professor of Statistics and Marketing Research at the Department of Quantitative Methods for Management and Economy. She received a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Oporto and completed a Ph.D. in Social Statistics at the University of Southampton, UK. For the last thirty years she has been teaching several undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Statistics, Multivariate Data Analysis, Sampling and Survey Methodology, Research Methods and Marketing Research at the ISCTE Business School, but she took up teaching assignments also at various colleges in Macau, Guanghzou, Chengdu, Mozambique and Cape Vert. Her research interests are focused both on research methodologies, data collection (evaluation of sampling methods and surveys' quality) and data analysis methodologies (multivariate statistics applied to business and management research). She was, until 2010, President of the Scientific Committee of the ISCTE Business School (IBS), Director of the Doctoral Programme on Applied Quantitative Methods and President of the Business and Management Research Unit (UNIDE). She was, between 2014 and 2018, Director of the Quantitative Methods Department at the IBS - ISCTE Business School. She was, between March 2018 and 2022, Vice-Rector for the Development of Human Resources and was appointed Director of the Doctoral Programme in Management in June 2021.
Helena holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, UK. She is full professor of accounting at Iscte Business School in Lisbon, and previously worked at Bayes Business School in London. She had visiting positions at the University of Miami in the US, where she was a Fulbright Research Scholar, and at Sydney University in Australia. Her research interests are on financial markets, corporate governance and international financial reporting. Helena participates regularly in top international conferences such as meetings of the European Accounting Association, American Accounting Association, and European Finance Association. She is often invited to speak at seminars, conferences, and doctoral meetings of prestigious European and US universities. Helena's research has been published in top journals in accounting and finance, such as the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, and Journal of Business Ethics. Her research findings have been used by international organizations dealing with corporate reporting issues, such as the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the CFA Institute, and the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). Helena serves the community taking roles in various committees of the European Accounting Association, as associated editor of the journals European Accounting Review and Accounting Business Research, and as a member of evaluation panels for recruitment and for PhD grants. During her career, Helena managed various research projects funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation FCT, participated in an European Training Network, and won several awards including Best European PhD thesis in Management by EDAMBA, best conference papers, and best reviewer. Helena has also been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to develop a one year research project at the University of Miami in the US.
João Guerreiro, PhD Marketing (ISCTE-IUL, Portugal), Associate Professor of Marketing with Habilitation and integrated researcher at BRU-IUL. Research interests focused in the area of Consumer Behavior and Relationship Marketing, namely in the implications of technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, IoT) for Marketing, with published articles in several scientific journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Journal of Business Ethics among others. Director of the Master in Marketing at ISCTE-IUL between 2017 and 202. Professional experience as a senior consultant in Business Intelligence projects.
Maria João Major (publication name, Maria Major) is Full Professor of Management Accounting and Control at ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon, Portugal). She holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK and a Post-doc from the Manchester Business School, UK. Maria João was visiting researcher fellow at Alliance Manchester Business School, UK in 2016 and at Griffith University, Australia in 2001. She has published in academic journals such as ‘Management Accounting Research’, ‘European Accounting Review’, ‘Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal’, ‘Accounting, Organizations and Society’, 'Financial Accountability & Management', ‘Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management’ and ‘Public Money and Management’, among others. Maria João is also the author or co-author of several books and international book chapters. She is on the editorial board of ‘Qualitative Research on Accounting and Management’, ‘Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change’, ‘Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management’ and earlier on the editorial board of the ‘European Accounting Review’. She is additionally active in refereeing articles for a number of leading accounting journals. Maria João has served as member of scientific committees in several international accounting conferences. She was the convenor of ‘Manufacturing Accounting Research (EIASM) 2016’ and of the ‘European Network for Research on Organizational and Accounting Change (ENROAC) 2011’ conferences. Aditionally, Maria João has received teaching awards as best professor. Prior to joining ISCTE-IUL she was Associate Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics where she taught in the PhD, Master, Bachelor and Executive Education programmes.
Working in the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior from ISCTE Business School, develops research focused on the topics of organizational leadership, governance and political behavior, emotions in organizations, competencies and attitudes towards technology.
Has experience in managing university knowledge transfer units since 2009 and has coordinated several projects and studies (both executive and scientific coordination) bridging with the community and business, both in national and international settings. These projects have been targeting mostly applied research and organizational intervention in the area of organizational behavior (Organizational diagnosis and innovation) and HRM (professional selection, competencies profiling, team building).
Supervises master dissertations and doctorate theses in management some within a joint program with Southern Medical University (Guangzhou, China) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (Chengdu).
Acted as jury member in several public officer selections (middle management and executive positions) for Portuguese governmental and public institutions.
Holding two PhD degrees and two Habilitation titles, Renato Pereira is Associate Dean for Internationalization and Research at Iscte Business School.
Specialized in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, International Business Management, and in Economic Development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Former resident-student at Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the private foundation in charge of managing the international campus of the French capital city, elected by a college representing 5,000+ voters from 150+ nationalities.
He has worked for different companies of the ICT cluster, including Outsystems, one of the initial Portuguese unicorns.
As Director of Inteli - Innovation Center, he has integrated the coordination structure of the Mobi.E consortium, responsible for the development of the 1st nation-wide network in the world for electric vehicle charging, and the board of directors of SGORME, the network operations management company.
For thirteen consecutive years, he was member of the Supervisory Board of Taguspark, the managing company of one of the biggest and most relevant science and technology facilities in Portugal.
He was Advisor to the Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Communications of the XVIIth and XVIIIth Portuguese Constitutional Governments.
Currently directs the Master's in International Management of iscte Business School; previously has directed the Executive Master in Innovation Management at Iscte Executive Education and several master-level and doctoral-level subjects at both Iscte Business School and School of Sociology and Public Policy.
As Associate Professor of Autonomous University of Lisbon, he directed: the PhD program in Business Economics, the Geoeconomics Seminar of the PhD program in International Relations, the MSc program in Business Management, and the BSc program in Management, as well as several subjects from all three levels.
He has been the recipient of different research prizes and other distinctions related with his publications awarded by prestigious members of the scientific community.
He has supervised 5 post-docs, 21 doctorates and over 200 masters.
He has a long and extensive international academic experience, having taken teaching or research visiting positions in higher education institutions from Angola, Brazil, China, Czechia, East-Timor, Finland, France, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Macao, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan.
Shaozhuang Ma is a tenured Associate Professor with a Habilitation in Management at the Business School of Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon (Iscte-IUL), Portugal. He holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in Management from Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal. Additionally, he was a visiting scholar at the Business School of the University of Queensland, Australia in the year 2010.
Professor Ma's teaching and research interests encompass Human Resource Development and Management, as well as Strategic Management, with a recent focus on Employee Well-being and Health in the context of a boundaryless workplace. He has contributed to various esteemed publications, including the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Applied Psychology: Health and Well-being, Psychology and Health, Psychology, Health and Medicine, The Chinese Economy, Journal of Health Organization and Management, International Journal of Public Administration, Population & Economics, Journal of Nursing Science, Chinese Hospitals, and Chinese Health Quality Management, among others.
Furthermore, Professor Ma serves as a Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Health Planning and Management and has provided extensive referee services for international journals. Notably, his cases titled "Zhu Dandan (A): Promotions (9B13C002)" and "Zhu Dandan (B): Leadership Development (9B20C025)" were published by Ivey and featured in Harvard Business Review's collection.
Prior to his tenure at Iscte-IUL, Professor Ma held the position of Deputy Dean at the Business School of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou, China. He also served as the Executive Director of the Lingnan MBA Program, a collaborative initiative between Lingnan College at Sun Yat-sen University and the MIT Sloan School of Management in the United States.
