I am a Medical Doctor and University Professor at a Medical School and two Business schools, teaching and researching in Digital Health, Leadership and Management education for Medical Students and Health Professionals. I am the past president of SPMS, Portugal's Digital Health Agency, where I led National eHealth efforts for close to 7 years, and the former Member States co-chair of the EU eHealth Network, the highest policy body on eHealth in the Union. Currently work as an Academic, and as independent consultant in Digital Health and Healthcare Transformation (www.henriquemartins.eu)
João Henriques is a Visiting Professor at Iscte-IUL's School of Sociology and Public Policy, and Sintra School of Social and Business Sciences. He has a PhD in Sociology at Iscte-IUL, funded by FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology). His initial academic training is in the area of Civil Engineering (Bachelor and Master), and later in Sociology (Master) and Data Analysis (Post-graduation). His master's and doctoral research topics focused on European identity and social cohesion in the EU.
He is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES) where he has participated in studies in various thematic areas, such as social inequalities, environment and sustainable development, social cohesion, education, employment, family and work, and communication fo science.
João Pedro Calado Barradas Branco Pavia received his PhD in Information Sciences and Technologies in 2022. The topic of his thesis was the design of wireless communication schemes for ultrafast communications in the millimetre wave and THz bands.
He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Digital Technologies of the School of Applied Digital Technologies at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon. His research interests include wireless communication networks, cybersecurity, big data and machine learning.
He is a member of IEEE and he is also a member of COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology, where he collaborates with professionals from several countries to develop solutions centred on the domain of intelligent radio communications for seamless inclusive interactions.
He has been involved as local organiser and reviewer in several conferences and symposia. He is also a reviewer for several journals of the information and communications technology area.
Since 2022, I am teaching at ISCTE Sintra - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, the courses of Graphs and Complex Networks, Calculus (with Python), and Applied Mathematics. In the period 2021 - 2023, I also taught at Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências de Lisboa, courses like Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. I am an enthusiast of science and knowledge development, and my research goals are to join topics of mathematical modelling and civil protection and society in general.I am passionate about education and my drive is to allow everyone to learn and master any skill they desire, with the right direction and strength, and for some years I have been a volunteer in a social institution teaching Portuguese and mathematics to illiterate people.I have worked in data analysis, data visualisation, data science, problem solving, and research and interpretation of data. My professional drive is to use my analytical skills to find solutions in short amounts of time, whether it requires organisation knowledge, team-working, scheduling, management, programming, or innovation.I have worked as a researcher in a project implementing mathematical and computational techniques into biological data, specifically the evolution of viruses in terms of their mutations and virulence. Unfortunately, it did not help prevent the covid-19 pandemic, but certainly projects like those help improve the knowledge which led to the quick vaccination development. In terms of academics, I have a Ph.D. from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, which followed an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Lisbon in Portugal. The main focus of my doctorate research was to analyse automotive supply chains and develop a synthetic network creation model which could replicate the main features of real-life supply chains. The resulting model was quite accurate, and it permits managers to know with a high degree of certainty the structure of their supply chain, with just a few data points.Regarding my soft skills, Determination and Hard Work are two of the most important in my career. No path is easy and not only “geniuses can do it"... with passion and hard work, anyone can achieve their goals.
Luís Manuel Nobre de Brito Elvas, with a degree in Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Integrated Decision Support Systems, is a researcher at the Technologies and Architecture Research Center (ISTAR) and at the Association for Research and Development of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (AIDFM).In the context of health informatics, he has worked on data mining techniques, computer vision and artificial intelligence, to extract data patterns, perform image classification and text reports, respectively. In 2022 his work was distinguished by the Portuguese Order of Engineers.
He is also Chair of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Branch Chapter at iscte.
Margarida Santos is a guest assistant professor at Iscte-Sintra in the fields of Health Psychology and Educational Psychology.
