Programme in Humanitarian Action is an investment for new academic year

In keeping with its reputation for innovation and interdisciplinarity, Iscte has opened a programme in Humanitarian Action, with a view towards training professionals for work in international organizations.

At the announcement of this new programme, the Rector of Iscte, Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, noted: “Humanitarian Action, as we have all seen in past weeks with the disaster in Mozambique, depends on the goodwill of all citizens and governments. But for humanitarian aid to be effective, such organizations also need professionals in logisitics and management, social workers, experts in public policy and international relations, sociologists, architects and engineers, all of whom must be prepared for these interventions.”

In her speech, the Rector reminded the audience that the motto of Iscte is “to welcome all young people and adults who wish to study,” and that “today, our university is a cosmopolitan place, to which students return throughout their lives.” “Therefore, let us continue to work to receive more international students, and adult students who wish to renew their qualifications”, she expressed.
