A escola tal como a conhecemos hoje é uma construção da modernidade. Tendo lugar a uma teia de relações interpessoais, o conflito surge e pode expressar-se através da indisciplina, da violência e do bullying. Considerando tais fenómenos como sociais e relacionais a mesma buscou compreender e interpretar tais situações. Os governos, a direção da escola e os professores vão assim, procurar estabelecer e pôr em prática medidas para prevenir e resolver tais fenómenos. Visto a amplitude e complexidade do objeto de estudo, decidimos focar a nossa investigação num estudo de caso. Procurámos identificar as estratégias utilizadas numa escola em França para prevenir e resolver tais situações. Para tal, utilizámos um modelo de triangulação de instrumentos de recolha de dados. A informação foi recolhida através do diário de bordo da investigadora, de entrevistas semiestruturas realizadas a professores, à vice-diretora e à Conselheira Principal de Educação, e da análise de documentos oficiais da escola. Podemos assim concluir que, o teste linguístico à entrada que incide sobre os resultados escolares, tende a ter um efeito direto no comportamento dos alunos dentro do espaço escolar. A somar a isto, as elevadas expectativas em relação ao trabalho escolar, da parte das famílias e do corpo docente, dão aos potenciais candidatos um sentido de responsabilidade acrescida. Contudo, há, ainda assim, uma “lei do silêncio”, que “abafa” incidentes como o bullying, e permite à escola, justificar junto da comunidade, o elevado prestígio que tem construído ao longo dos anos, e aceitar seletivamente o seu tipo de aluno ideal.

The school as we know it today is a construction of modernity. Taking place in a network of interpersonal relationships, conflict arises and can express itself through indiscipline, violence, and bullying. Considering such phenomena as social and relational, it has sought to understand and interpret such situations. Governments, school management, and teachers will thus seek to establish and implement measures to prevent and resolve such phenomena. Given the breadth and complexity of the subject matter, we have decided to focus our research on a case study. We sought to identify the strategies used in a school in France to prevent and solve such situations. To this end, we used a triangulation model of data collection tools. The information was collected through the researcher's logbook, semi-structured interviews with teachers, the deputy headteacher and the Principal Education Adviser, and the analysis of official school documents. We can therefore conclude that the entrance language test focusing on school results tends to have a direct effect on pupils' behavior within the school space. Also, the high expectations on the part of families and the teaching staff regarding schoolwork give potential candidates an increased sense of responsibility. However, there is still a "law of silence" that "stifles" incidents like bullying and allows the school to justify to the community the high prestige it has built over the years, and to selectively accept its ideal type of student.
