O porto de Beirute não contribuia somente para a economia do país, como também era o porto de rota humanitárias para os paises nos arredores. A explosão de 4 de Agosto de 2020, é reconhecida como a maior explosão não nuclear evidênciada até ao dias de hoje. Os danos causados na estrutura do porto foram imediatos e aparentes, causando várias mortes. Este acontecimento é mais um para se agregar ao resto das crises evidênciadas no país, sendo um momento que agravou a situação económica, que se encontrava frágil. O papel da educação é proporcionar a oportunidade de adquirir conhecimentos e competências a indivíduos, para que estes se possam orientar na vida e contribuir para a sociedade. A Convenção das Nações Unidas sobre os Direitos das Crianças reconhece que a educação é um direito fundamental, no entanto, este continua a ser um privilégio para muitos. A juventude num país é um dos recursos humanos mais viáveis e com maior potencial, não só em termos de estrutura da população como também na estrutura social. A arquitectura tem o potencial de promover o bem-estar e proporcionar ambientes de aprendizagem seguros e inspiradores para comunidades. O presente trabalho é constituído por 3 capítulos, abrangindo a análise à cidade de Beirute no contexto da Sociedade Civil e do impacto da explosão na cidade, a introdução de um desenho para a proposta do porto de Beirute, e finalizando com o capítulo à análise do papel da educação e integração social na cidade face às dificuldades da população e o projeto final . Relativamente à metodologia utilizada na presente dissertação, para a sua componente teórica recorreu-se a diferentes fontes bibliográficas e, foi realizada uma entrevista com um membro de uma ONG local libanesa, de modo a compreender o papel educacional no contexto de Beirute.

The port of Beirut not only contributed to the country's economy, but was also the port of humanitarian routes to the surrounding countries. The explosion of August 4, 2020, is recognized as the largest non-nuclear explosion evidenced to date. The damage to the port structure was immediate and apparent, causing several deaths. This event is one more to add to the rest of the crises evidenced in the country, being a moment that aggravated the economic situation, which was fragile. The role of education is to provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills so that they can get their bearings in life and contribute to society. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes that education is a fundamental right, yet this remains a privilege for many. Youth in a country is one of the most viable human resources with the greatest potential, not only in terms of population structure but also in social structure. Architecture has the potential to promote well-being and provide safe and inspiring learning environments for communities. This paper consists of 3 chapters, covering the analysis of the city of Beirut in the context of Civil Society and the impact of the explosion on the city, the introduction of a design for the proposed port of Beirut, and ending with the chapter analyzing the role of education and social integration in the city in the face of the difficulties of the population and the final project . Regarding the methodology used in this dissertation, for its theoretical component different bibliographic sources were used and, an interview was conducted with a member of a local Lebanese NGO, in order to understand the educational role in the context of Beirut.
