No momento atual, a relação que o ser humano e as suas ações antropogénicas apresentam para com o meio natural (ambiente biofísico) e o atual modelo de sociedade presente é fundamental para compreender o impacto negativo que se encontra a existir para com o meio natural. Compreender que o atual paradigma de sociedade proporciona uma relação negativa para com o meio natural é fundamental para percebermos a mudança que deverá ocorrer, uma transformação social e ambiental. Para tal, a necessidade de entidades e organizações que apoiem à mudança de consciência e de pensamento são fulcrais. As Organizações Não-Governamentais de Ambiente (ONGA) surgem assim como organizações com uma natureza de bem público, com grande relevância na promoção, conservação, sensibilização e valorização do ambiente. Desde modo, as ONGA desempenham um papel fundamental na disseminação da Educação Ambiental (EA) em Portugal, através das suas atividades, projetos e ações de EA. A presente dissertação, através do estudo quantitativo realizado tem como objetivo ser um contributo para a compreensão do papel das ONGA na disseminação de EA não-formal, na apreensão do seu âmbito, atividades principais, público-alvo e faixa etária de atuação das ações de EAN, bem como, os métodos e metodologias pedagógica utilizadas, enfoques educativos, as correntes de EA com maior utilização e o contributo que a Estratégia Nacional de EA 2017-2020 e a Estratégia Nacional de Educação para o Desenvolvimento 2018-2022 apresentam para as ONGA na disseminação de EA.

At the present time, the relationship that human beings and their anthropogenic actions natural environment (biophysical environment) and the current model of present society is essential to understand the negative impact that exists on the natural environment. Understanding that the current paradigm of society provides a negative relationship with the natural environment is fundamental to understand the change that must occur, a social and environment transformation. To this end, the need for entities and organisations thar support a change in consciousness and thinking is essential. Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) emerge as organisations with a public good nature, with great relevance in the promotion, conservation, awareness and valuation of the environment. Thus, NGOs play a key role in the dissemination of Environmental Education (EE) in Portugal, through their activities, projects and EE actions. This dissertation, through the quantitative study carried out, aims to be a contribution to the understanding of the role of NGOs in the dissemination of non-formal EE, in the apprehension of its scope, main activities, target audience and age range of action of the actions of NFE, as well, as the methods and pedagogical methodologies used, education approaches, the currents of EE with greater use and the contribution that the National Strategy for EE 2017-2020 and the National Strategy of Education for Development 2018-2022 present to the NGOs in the dissemination of EE.
