A Pesca Ilegal, Não Declarada e Não Regulamentada (INN) na Guiné-Bissau é um problema preocupante que afeta gravemente a sustentabilidade dos recursos pesqueiros, com impactos socioeconómicos negativos no país. A Guiné-Bissau é conhecida pelas suas águas ricas em recursos pesqueiros, no entanto, a pesca IN compromete a capacidade do país de gerir e beneficiar desses recursos de forma sustentável, dada a fragilidade institucional do país. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as principais ameaças que afetam a segurança marítima, particularmente a pesca INN na região de Bolama-Bijagós. A pesquisa é de natureza exploratória, ou seja, utilizou-se o método qualitativo, que consiste na análise de documentos escritos criteriosamente selecionados, a revisão bibliográfica, servindo-se de material interdisciplinar e entrevistas com os técnicos da área. Os resultados apontam para a fragilidade institucional, a falta de infraestruturas portuárias, e a escassez de meios de patrulhamento e de recursos humanos, que condicionam a perpetuação da pesca INN nas águas territoriais guineenses.

Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing at Guinea Bissau is one of the worrying problems that gravely affects the sustainability of the fishing resources, with negative socio- economic impacts on the country. Guinea Bissau is known for its water rich in fishing resources, but IUU fishing compromises the ability of the country to manage and benefit from these resources sustainably, given the institutional fragility of the country. Therefore, the ongoing work aims to analyze the main threats affecting maritime safety, particularly IUU fishing in the region of Bolama-Bijagós. The research is exploratory, which means that the qualitative method, which consists of analyzing judiciously selected written documents, and literature review were used, making use of interdisciplinary material and interviews with technicians of the area. The results point to the institutional fragility, lack of portuary infrastructure, patrol means, and human resources, which condition the perpetuation of IUU fishing in the territorial waters of Guineans.
