A presente dissertação visa compreender a forma como a música de língua cabo-verdiana, especialmente a que não é considerada originária do arquipélago, se encontra integrada e popularizada no contexto cultural português. Assim, os objetivos passam por identificar os principais géneros musicais de língua crioula cabo-verdiana popularizados no contexto cultural português, assim como as identidades artísticas que contribuíram para este fenómeno, mas também por caracterizar os públicos consumidores deste tipo de música e o contexto em que o fazem, para que se consiga obter uma perspetiva sobre as razões por detrás do consumo deste tipo de música pelos portugueses, principalmente, quando existem diferenças linguísticas muito significativas. Assim, através da realização de entrevistas e de um inquérito por questionário online, foi possível perceber que o maior contributo para o fenómeno da popularização da música de língua cabo-verdiana em Portugal é a grande comunidade imigrante cabo-verdiana que, além de numerosa, desde há muito que se encontra presente em Portugal e que traz com ela elementos culturais que se dão a conhecer no país de fixação. Também as plataformas digitais se revelaram importantes ferramentas na divulgação e promoção de música, o que teve um grande impacto na visibilidade da música cabo-verdiana, que já se encontrava de certa forma globalizada devido à grande diáspora cabo-verdiana. Destaca-se, igualmente, os jovens-adultos que, também mais presentes nas redes digitais, são o grande público deste tipo de música e que contribuem para uma contínua agenda musical cabo-verdiana em Portugal.

This dissertation aims to understand how music in the Cape Verdean language, especially that which is not considered to originate from the archipelago, is integrated and popularized in the Portuguese cultural context. Thus, the objectives are to identify the main musical genres in the Cape Verdean Creole language popularized in the Portuguese cultural context, as well as the artistic identities that contributed to this phenomenon, but also to characterize the public consumers of this type of music and the context in which They do so, so that we can gain insight into the reasons behind the consumption of this type of music by the Portuguese, especially when there are very significant linguistic differences. Thus, through interviews and an online questionnaire survey, it was possible to understand that the greatest contribution to the phenomenon of popularization of Cape Verdean music in Portugal is the large Cape Verdean immigrant community which, in addition to being numerous, It has been present in Portugal for a long time and brings with it cultural elements that are known in the country of settlement. Digital platforms have also proven to be important tools in the dissemination and promotion of music, which has had a major impact on the visibility of Cape Verdean music, which was already somewhat globalized due to the large Cape Verdean diaspora. Also noteworthy are young adults who, also more present on digital networks, are the main audience for this type of music and who contribute to a continuous Cape Verdean musical agenda in Portugal.
