O primeiro capítulo desta dissertação aborda a oportunidade de enfrentar um desafio: a participação em concursos públicos de arquitetura. Este tema é o mais próximo da prática profissional de um arquiteto, o que permitiu o avanço e aprimoramento das habilidades individuais durante a exploração de territórios desconhecidos. Para além do reconhecimento próprio, surgiu a questão que fundamentou o segundo capítulo "arquitetura e ornamento", a definição de ornamento, um tópico subjetivo, que varia de pessoa para pessoa. A presente dissertação pretende investigar e aprender a arte da ornamentação, questionando o porquê, de peças historicamente valorizadas, perderem o brilho e importância. Serão os ornamentos realmente um crime ou elementos perdidos no passado? Esta pesquisa procura respostas a essas questões, refletindo sobre a evolução e o papel dos ornamentos na arquitetura atual.

The first chapter of this dissertation explores the opportunity to face a significant challenge: participating in public architecture competitions. This theme closely mirrors the professional practice of an architect, allowing for the advancement and refinement of individual skills while navigating uncharted territories. Beyond personal recognition, the fundamental question that motivated the second chapter "architecture and ornament" emerged, which is the definition of ornament, a subjective topic that varies from person to person. The present dissertation aims to investigate and learn the art of the use of ornamentation, questioning why historically valued pieces have lost their shine and importance. Are ornaments truly a crime, or are they elements lost to the past? This research seeks answers to these questions, reflecting on the evolution and role of ornaments in contemporary architecture.
