A presente investigação parte do Programa Revive, cujo objetivo é reabilitar imóveis públicos com grande valor histórico, e tem como caso de estudo o Forte Velho do Outão. A dissertação divide-se em dois capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, fazemos a análise objetiva da Serra da Arrábida, explorando as respetivas geologia, hidrologia e topografia, bem como o modo como estes elementos moldaram a presença humana e a ocupação do território ao longo do tempo. A arquitetura local foi fortemente influenciada por estas características. O conceito de praça emerge como um elemento essencial a ser estudado, de modo a estruturar o cheio e a organizar o espaço. No segundo capítulo, apresentamos a análise detalhada do Forte Velho do Outão e a consequente proposta de intervenção em resposta ao exercício solicitado. Foi necessário estudar em profundidade o edifício e o seu valor histórico para garantir uma abordagem bem fundamentada. O coração deste projeto, a praça central, organiza os espaços e estabelece uma ligação fluida entre o forte e o seu ambiente, respeitando tanto a escala do território quanto as necessidades do Programa Revive. Além disso, este novo elemento procura resolver questões topográficas que estavam por solucionar. A intervenção proposta pretende não só valorizar o património local, mas também oferecer uma resposta pragmática aos desafios do presente, propondo uma reflexão crítica sobre o impacto do Programa Revive.

This research is based on the Revive Programme, which aims to rehabilitate public buildings with great historical value, and uses the Forte Velho do Outão as a case study. The dissertation is divided into two chapters. In the first chapter, we make an objective analysis of the Serra da Arrábida, exploring its geology, hydrology and topography, as well as how these elements shaped human presence and occupation of the territory over time. The local architecture was strongly influenced by these characteristics. The concept of the square emerges as an essential element to be studied, in order to structure the surroundings and organise the space. In the second chapter, we present a detailed analysis of the Forte Velho do Outão and the consequent intervention proposal in response to the requested exercise. It was necessary to study the building and its historical value in depth to ensure a well-founded approach. The heart of this project, the central square, organises the spaces and establishes a fluid connection between the fort and its environment, respecting both the scale of the territory and the needs of the Revive Programme. Furthermore, this new element seeks to resolve topographical issues that were yet to be resolved. The proposed intervention aims not only to enhance local heritage, but also to offer a pragmatic response to current challenges, proposing a critical reflection on the impact of the Revive Programme.
