Roberta Metsola é, desde 2022, a Presidente do Parlamento Europeu. Como tal, utiliza as redes sociais não só para difundir as suas mensagens e convicções políticas, mas também para se manter em contacto com os seus seguidores e tentar chegar a um maior número de utilizadores das redes sociais. Tendo isto em conta, esta dissertação tem como objetivo compreender se a comunicação online da Presidente do Parlamento Europeu é eficaz e o quão eficaz é. Recorrendo a entrevistas semiestruturadas e a uma análise qualitativa de conteúdo, os resultados finais defendem que a comunicação online da Presidente do Parlamento Europeu é eficaz, a um nível satisfatório. Alguns fatores que tornam a comunicação online da Roberta eficaz são a proximidade que ela tem com os seus seguidores, a sua comunicação humana e a forma como se apresenta como uma pessoa comum nas redes sociais.

Roberta Metsola is, since 2022, the President of the European Parliament. As such, she uses social media not only to spread her political messages and beliefs, but also to keep in contact with her followers and to try to reach a bigger number of social media users. With this in mind, this dissertation aims to understand if the online communication of the President of the European Parliament is effective and how effective it really is. Employing semi-structured interviews and qualitative content analysis, the final results argue that the online communication of the President of the European Parliament is effective, on a satisfactory level. Some factors that make Roberta’s online communication effective are the closeness she has with her followers, her human communication and how she portrays herself as a common person on social media.
