Neste trabalho apresentam-se as conclusões de um estudo experimental que pretendia avaliar respostas afectivas perante a alegria e o infortúnio dos outros em contextos de humor, nomeadamente o prazer, a activação, o controlo, a identificação empática e eventuais diferenças individuais nas respostas em termos de empatia, contágio emocional ou estilos de humor. O estudo foi desenvolvido em duas fases. Inicialmente foi recolhida informação sobre algumas características individuais dos participantes. Na segunda fase, os participantes visionaram três vídeos: um vídeo que mostrava pessoas em situações de acidentes/infortúnios, num contexto cómico, outro exibindo pessoas rindo ininterruptamente e um terceiro considerado “neutro”. Durante o seu visionamento, foi recolhida a actividade electrodérmica e aplicadas algumas medidas de autorrelato para aferir o que os participantes sentiram em cada situação. Em função do grau de prazer reportado, foram constituídos três grupos: quase metade da amostra revelou mais prazer com os acidentes cómicos; outro grupo manifestou mais prazer com os ataques de riso e um terceiro reportou igual prazer perante ambas as situações. Não foi identificado prazer malicioso significativo, nomeadamente face aos acidentes, sugerindo que os excertos de acidentes poderão ter sido percepcionados num registo de brincadeira inconsequente. O grupo que revelou idêntico prazer nos dois vídeos parece assumir uma predisposição para experienciar um entusiasmo generalizado, independentemente dos estímulos. Os resultados foram analisados no âmbito de algumas abordagens teóricas, sendo propostas novas direcções de investigação futura.

This works’ aim was to study affective reactions in face of others’ misfortune and joy in humour contexts, namely pleasure, arousal, dominance, empathic identification and possible individual differences in these reactions, in terms of empathy, emotional contagion or humour styles. In this experimental study, data was collected in two different moments. In the first one, participants had answered empathy, humour and emotional contagion self-report measures. In the second moment, participants saw three different films: one showing people falling in a comic way and having funny accidents, another showing people in a “can’t stop laughing” situations and a neutral one. In order to get information about what participants felt in these situations, skin conductance and self-report measures was collected. According to the level of pleasure reported, three groups were found: the large one, almost half of the sample, reported more pleasure with the comic fallings; other reported more pleasure with the “can’t stop laughing” film and a third one, reported equal pleasure in both situations. Schadenfreude was not found, not even in face of the comic fallings film, and it’s seems like this film was considered as a funny and inconsequent situation. The group that reported equal pleasure in both films seems to have a tendency to experience a generalized enthusiasm, independently of the stimuli. Results were analysed in the context of some theoretical approaches and some issues were identified for future research.
