Esta dissertação de mestrado tem como objetivo analisar as relações culturais luso-brasileiras, entre o final da Segunda Guerra Mundial, em 1945, e o Tratado de Amizade e Consulta, assinado entre Portugal e Brasil em 1953. Aproveitando as bases lançadas durante a vigência do regime estado-novista brasileiro, nomeadamente o Acordo Cultural de 1941, as relações culturais entre Portugal e o Brasil pautaram-se por diversas dimensões. A revista Atlântico, fundada através do acordo de 1941, manteve a sua existência até 1950, sendo aqui analisada entre 1946 e 1950. Por outro lado, a questão ortográfica, igualmente analisada na dissertação, foi alvo de sucessivos acordos entre os dois países. Outro aspeto essencial foi o Acordo de Cooperação Intelectual de 1948, assinado já no governo de Dutra, naquele que terá sido o período de maior arrefecimento das relações luso-brasileiras, como fica comprovado pela interrupção das negociações do Acordo Ortográfico de 1945. A assinatura do Tratado de Amizade e Consulta, que consagra a comunidade luso-brasileira, terá sido o ponto alto nas relações entre Portugal e o Brasil no período escolhido nesta dissertação. Em geral, a análise revela que as relações culturais lusobrasileiras no imediato pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial tiveram vários graus de intensidade, correspondendo à importância que lhes era dada pelos governos de Lisboa e do Rio de Janeiro. As fontes primárias utilizadas nesta dissertação foram a documentação da Torre do Tombo e do Arquivo Histórico-Diplomático do Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros. Foi, também, utilizada a Biblioteca Nacional, onde existem os números da revista Atlântico explorados nesta dissertação.

This dissertation aims to analyze the Portuguese-Brazilian cultural relations between the end of World War II in 1945 and the Treaty of Friendship and Consultation signed between Portugal and Brazil in 1953. Taking advantage of the bases launched during the validity of the Brazilian regime, namely the Cultural Agreement of 1941, cultural relations between Portugal and Brazil ranged in several dimensions. The Atlântico magazine, founded through the agreement of 1941, maintained its existence until 1950, being analyzed here between 1946 and 1950. On the other hand, the orthographic question, also analyzed in this dissertation, was the subject of successive agreements between the two countries. Another essential aspect was the Agreement on Intellectual Cooperation of 1948, signed already in Dutra's government, in what would have been the period of greatest cooling of Luso-Brazilian relations, as evidenced by the interruption of the negotiations of the 1945 Orthographic Agreement. Treaty of Friendship and Consultation, which enshrines the Portuguese-Brazilian community, will have been the high point in the relations between Portugal and Brazil during the period chosen in this dissertation. In general, the analysis reveals that Portuguese-Brazilian cultural relations in the immediate post-Second World War had varying degrees of intensity, corresponding to the importance given to them by the governments of Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. The primary sources used in this dissertation were the documentation of Torre do Tombo and the Historical-Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The National Library, where are the numbers of the Atlântico magazine explored in this dissertation, was also used.
