Os atuais profissionais e os do futuro próximo precisam estar preparados para enfrentar os desafios e os problemas que afligem nossa sociedade. Através da educação como ferramenta de mudança, é possível desenvolver competências para a promoção de um futuro sustentável. As Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) devem ter um olhar contemporâneo sobre a sua estrutura, já que são responsáveis por oferecer profissionais melhores para o mundo, com um olhar sistêmico e postura reconhecidamente engajada nos três pilares da sustentabilidade. É neste contexto que a presente pesquisa busca averiguar como esta abordagem está a ser contemplada pela IES Portuguesa - ISCTE-IUL. A presente tese tem como objetivo principal inserir o tema sustentabilidade de forma transversal na grelha curricular da Instituição, a partir dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) da ONU, com o propósito de atender as demandas contemporâneas do novo perfil de profissionais melhor preparados para a tarefa de adaptação que se apresenta para o século XXI. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa utilizamos como uma das ferramentas as tabelas geradas pelo THE - Times Higher Education (THE)/ 2019 - ranking mundial de impacto das universidades. Trata-se da maior tabela de referência internacional, pelo que foi desenvolvido uma análise entre as cinco melhores IES no mundo e o ISCTE, o que nos permitiu verificar as melhores práticas das cinco melhores IES do ranking. Outra ferramenta importante foi a análise do Sistema de Gestão Ambiental - ISCTE-IUL, que nos permitiu identificar os aspetos ambientais significativos, em que pudemos constatar o reconhecimento da necessidade de inserção do tema sustentabilidade nos currículos, bem como, o caminho escolhido pela Instituição de inserção do tema a partir dos ODS. Buscamos agregar mais valor em nossa pesquisa, a partir das entrevistas e do nosso processo de observação, nos permitindo elaborar uma sugestão para o ISCTE-IUL, contribuído para que este possa cumprir o seu papel na construção de um futuro sustentável. Esta pesquisa apresenta assim as melhores práticas identificadas entre as cinco melhores IES no mundo, como sugestão para o ISCTE, contribuindo para que este possa cumprir o seu papel na construção de um futuro sustentável.

Today's professionals and those of the near future need to be prepared to face the challenges and problems that plague our society. Through education as a tool for change, it is possible to develop skills for the promotion of a sustainable future. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) should have a contemporary outlook on their structure, as they are responsible for providing better professionals to the world, with a systemic outlook and an attitude that is admittedly engaged in the three pillars of sustainability. In this context, this research seeks to investigate how this approach is being contemplated by a Portuguese HEI - ISCTE-IUL. The main objective of the thesis project is to insert the sustainability theme transversally in the institution's curriculum, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in order to meet the contemporary demands of the new profile of professionals that should be better prepared. for the tasks of 21st century adaptation. For the development of the research we used as one of the tools the tables generated by THE - Times Higher Education (THE) / 2019 - world ranking of the impact of the universities. It is the largest international league table, so an analysis was developed between the top five HEIs in the world and ISCTE, which allowed us to verify the best practices of the top five HEIs in the ranking.
