We, with Europe

The Iscte Library - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, as part of its cultural extension activities, has the traveling exhibition "We, with Europe", provided by EUROPE DIRECT Lisbon Metropolitan Area, open to the public from May 5th to 30th.

In the year in which 40 years of Portugal's accession to the European Union and the 52nd anniversary of the Carnation Revolution are celebrated, this
thematic exhibition proposes a reflection on the past and present of
relations between Portugal and the European Union, also pointing to the first steps towards future. 

This exhibition brings together documents, images and testimonies that revisit the journey that began with the application for accession in 1977 and concluded with the 1985 Treaty, highlighting its impact on recent history. etween negotiations and treaties, Portugal's path in the European project began long before formal accession. Knowing the paths taken in the European scenario is essential to understand the current context, analyze recent crises and foresee the future.

We, with Europe constitutes a valuable testimony of historical memory, providing young people and adults who did not live through that period the opportunity to come into contact, perhaps for the first time, with images of relevant historical landmarks, thus contributing to political literacy.
