The School of Sociology and Public Policy at Iscte – Lisbon University Institute covers some of the academic areas that formed the basis of Iscte and were pioneers in the development of the social sciences in Portugal. The School welcomes around 3,000 students across the 46 courses we offer: four undergraduate courses in Sociology, Political Science, Modern and Contemporary History and Social Work, and an optional specialisation in Public Policy; 20 master’s degree programmes (five taught in English), 12 PhD programmes (one taught in English), and 10 postgraduate programmes. In addition to the areas mentioned, the School’s academic programme also covers fields such as Humanitarian Action, Public Administration, Communication, African Studies, Cultural Studies, International Studies, Methods of Social Research and Public Policy.
