Senate

The Senate is Iscte's academic consultation body and is made up of the following members:

• The Rector, who presides with casting vote;


• The Vice-Rectors;


• The President of the General Council;


• The Presidents of the Scientific and Pedagogical;


• The Directors of the decentralized Organic Units;


• The President of the Student Association or a student representative freely designated by him;


• The student representatives elected to the Pedagogical Council;


• The Administrator;


• The Administrator of Social Action Services.

The senate is responsible for:

• Approve the Rules of Procedure of the Senate;


• Give an opinion on the changes to the Statutes of Iscte;


• Give an opinion on the medium-term strategic plans and the action plan for the four-year term of office of the Rector;


• Give an opinion on the general guidelines of the institution in terms of scientific, pedagogical, financial and patrimonial aspects;


• Give an opinion on the annual activity plans and assess the annual report on the institution's activities;


• Give an opinion on the acquisition or sale of real estate assets of the institution;


• Give an opinion on the Disciplinary Regulations for Students;


• Give an opinion, in accordance with the Senate Rules, on disciplinary processes that may lead to the application of serious penalties;


• Give an opinion on other matters presented to it by the Rector.
