Emergency Support

In order to assist students who are experiencing financial difficulties, resulting from changes in the household's socioeconomic situation during the academic year, Iscte created Emergency Support, through Regulation no. 410/2014, of 17 September.

What does it consist of?
Emergency Support consists of financial support in the amount that students indicate and prove they need, up to the limit of the average SAS grant in the current academic year (in 2025/2026 this amount is around €1,950).

Who can apply?
All students enrolled at Iscte in the academic year of the application, whether in the 1st cycle or 2nd cycle, who meet the requirements of article 6 of the Regulation.

When to apply?
Students can apply between September and May 31st.

Where to submit an application?
As Applications must be submitted to SAS/Iscte (during the Social Emergency period, requests must be requested via email: sas@iscte-iul.pt).

What documents are necessary to present?
The documents, which must prove the socioeconomic situation presented, are generally indicated by the Social Action Service, the main ones being:

• Identification documents of all the elements that make up the household (citizen card and/or identity card and/or residence permit and taxpayer card);


• Household IRS and/or IRS exemption for the year previous


• Remuneration statements registered with social security (household members aged 17 or over)


• Proof of expenses (housing costs – rent or loan);


• Proof of illness;


• Proof of divorce;


• Birth certificate;


• Death certificate


• Others documents that are considered relevant.

All candidates must prepare a Application for Request for Emergency Support, to be attached to the documents of application, addressed to the Rector of Iscte, justifying the request and indicating the amount needed.
