As atitudes dos indivíduos relativamente ao abuso sexual são muito importantes para a proteção da vítima. Os mitos sobre o abuso sexual são estereótipos prejudiciais que parecem influenciar o modo como os indivíduos percecionam a situação de abuso sexual e os diferentes elementos, incluindo uma tendência para a negação da situação abusiva. Estes mitos apresentam diversas consequências negativas para a vítima, impedindo-a de receber o apoio que necessita. A presente dissertação tem como objetivo explorar de que modo o contexto abusivo e o estado emocional da criança impactam as atribuições dos participantes face ao abuso sexual na infância, assim como explorar o papel moderador dos mitos do abuso sexual. Deste modo, participaram neste estudo 322 adultos da comunidade (84.2% do sexo feminino), com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 70 anos (M = 28.88; DP = 11.38), que preencheram um conjunto de questionários. Os resultados sugerem um efeito da manipulação do contexto abusivo e da reação emocional da vítima nas atribuições de honestidade da vítima. A vítima foi percecionada como mais honesta no contexto de abuso extrafamiliar com reação de choro, comparativamente ao contexto de abuso intrafamiliar com reação de choro. Ademais, e apesar de não se ter observado um efeito significativo dos mitos do abuso sexual na infância enquanto moderador, foi verificada uma relação entre os mitos do abuso sexual na infância e as atribuições dos indivíduos. Estes resultados são discutidos à luz da literatura, sendo apresentadas as suas limitações e implicações para a investigação futura e prática profissional.

Individuals' attitudes towards sexual abuse are very important for victim protection. Child sexual abuse myths are harmful stereotypes which seem to influence how people perceive the sexual abusive experience and the ones involved, including a tendency to deny the abuse. These myths have several negative consequences for the victim, preventing them from receiving the support they need. This dissertation aims to explore how the abusive context and the child's emotional state impact the participants' attributions in the face of child sexual abuse, as well as exploring the moderating role of sexual abuse myths. Thus, 322 adults of the community participated in this study (84.2% female), with ages between 18 and 70 years old (M = 28.88; SD = 11.38), who completed a set of questionnaires. The results suggest an effect of the manipulation of the abusive context and the victim's emotional reaction on the victim's honesty attributions. The victim was perceived as being more honest on the extrafamilial abuse with a crying reaction, compared to intrafamilial abuse with a crying reaction. Furthermore, and despite the non- significant moderator effect of child sexual abuse myths, a significant relationship between these myths and the attributions was found. These results are discussed in the light of the literature, and their limitations and implications for future research and professional practice are described.
