A presente dissertação consiste, numa investigação em Serviço Social sobre “o papel do assistente social na gestão de organizações sem fins lucrativos”, evidenciando as práticas do assistente social no contexto organizacional. Assim, tendo por base a metodologia de um trabalho científico, esta investigação segue uma abordagem qualitativa, iniciada através de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, seguida de uma análise documental. A técnica de recolha de dados utilizada, foi a entrevista semiestruturada, orientada por um guião, aplicado a assistentes sociais,que exercem o cargo de direção técnica em organizações sem fins lucrativos. Posteriormente foi realizada uma análise de conteúdo, constituída por categorias e subcategorias que visam o cruzamento de elementos teóricos com os elementos empíricos, de acordo com os objetivos definidos na pesquisa. Com os resultados obtidos, podemos concluir que existe uma preocupação por parte dos assistentes sociais em melhorar as práticas utilizadas na gestão de organizações sem fins lucrativos. Além de melhorar as práticas há que investir em ferramentasque possibilitem melhorar a sustentabilidade destas organizações. Destaca-se ainda, a necessidade de especialização do assistente social na área da gestão, o que exige também por parte das universidades uma adequação dos conteúdos às novas tendências de intervenção.

This dissertation consists in an investigation in Social Work on "the role of social worker in the management of nonprofit organizations", highlighting the practices of the social worker in the organizational context. Thus, based on the methodology of scientific work, this research follows a qualitative approach, initiated through a literature review, followed by a documentary analysis. The data collection technique was the semi-structured interview guided by a script, applied to social workers, exercising the post of technical director at nonprofit organizations. It was later performed a content analysis, consisting of categories and subcategories that are aimed at the intersection of theoretical elements with the empirical evidence, in accordance with the objectives defined in the survey. With the results, we can conclude that there is a concern on the part of social workers in improving the practices used in the management of nonprofit organizations. In addition to improving the practices we need to invest in tools that make it possible to improve the sustainability of these organizations. It also highlights the need for specialization of social worker in the area of management, which also requires by universities an adaptation of content to the new policy trends.
