A partir da formulação da pergunta “Quais os efeitos da interacção social na Internet sobre a identidade
individual?”, esta investigação verifica em que medida a utilização de serviços como blogues, Instant Messaging
Services (IM), Social Networking Sites (ou redes sociais), email, newsgroups (ou fóruns de discussão), VoIP e
Second Life alteram o modo como o cibernauta português se perspectiva em relação a si mesmo, como se
relaciona com os outros (online e offline) e como interage num contexto profissional.

To answer the question “What are the effects of social interaction on the Internet over individual identity?” this
research analyses how the use of blogs, Instant Messaging Services (IM), Social Networking Sites, email,
newsgroups, VoIP and Second Life changes the way the Portuguese Internet user sees himself, the way he
connects with others (online and offline) and the way he interacts in a professional environment.
