Fazemos parte de uma sociedade em constante mudança que exige readaptação permanente a todas as dimensões da nossa vida. O modelo de escola tradicional, herança das necessidades da Revolução Industrial, da transmissão passiva do conhecimento, não responde às necessidades das sociedades contemporâneas “bombardeadas” por informação, que muda a cada instante. O conceito de inteligência, durante muito tempo ligado apenas a capacidades e competências mais relacionadas com a lógica matemática e a linguística, deixou de fora o imenso universo da capacidade humana, as inteligências múltiplas. Somos únicos na diversidade e a todos a escola convencional “formata” em idêntico “molde”, avalia pela mesma bitola, “ensinando peixes a voar e borboletas a nadar”. A eficácia educativa estará em modelos inovadores cientes destas transformações. Modelos com foco, não no fim, mas no processo, numa educação que permita o desenvolvimento da pessoa humana num todo – holística, no respeito pela individualidade. Numa “rotação Copérnica”, em que o aluno passa a estar no centro das aprendizagens, que estimula o conhecimento de si próprio e permite o desenvolvimento das habilidades que lhe são peculiares e, consequentemente, de um modo sustentado, da vontade de continuar a aprender. “Na Rota das Aprendizagens Sustentáveis”, parto de uma “amostra” da realidade que se vive no modelo convencional de educação, através de um estudo empírico, realizado aos professores das escolas da Região Autónoma da Madeira, sobre a forma como percepcionam e sentem a sua profissão e, por outro lado, exploro modelos de educação inovadores, alternativos ao atual modelo, pautados pela sustentabilidade, em contextos socioculturais distintos - Portugal, Peru e Bali - Indonésia.

We belong to a society that is constantly changing hence, it requires a suitable adaptation for the several dimension of life. A great reference is traditional school model, inherited from the Industrial Revolution necessities, of the passive transmission of knowledge, doesn’t match the needs of the targeted contemporaneous societies due to a constant change of information. The concept of intelligence, for so long has been related to the logic mathematic and linguistic skills, that in a certain way, blocked a wide range of human capacities for higher performances, the multiple intelligences. Each one is unique at diversity levels, however, current schools crop the original self of each being, leading to a single shape model, based on a fixed gauge, “teaching fish to fly and butterflies to swim”. The educational efficiency will be in innovative models aware of these transformations. Models that mostly focus along the process instead of just at the end, resulting in an education that releases the humans’ development in a whole – holistic, in respect to singularity. In a “Copernic rotation”, in which the pupils earn the place at the centre of apprenticeship, that results on the encouragement of the understanding of each self and allows development of their peculiar abilities, hence, leading to a sustainable process with a strong urge to learn. “In the Way of Sustainable Learning”, it starts based on a sample from the stagnated reality that still lives in a conventional model of educations, through an empirical research, based on the teachers from schools in Região Autónoma da Madeira, about the way that their profession is preceptioned and felt, on the other hand, the aim is to explore innovative models of education, that differ from the current ones, guided from sustainability in distinct sociocultural contexts – Portugal, Peru and Bali.
